seafireliv Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 And this is why the SP Campaign should be allowed offline- But no.
[CPT]milopugdog Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 But the master server wasn't down. I connected and happily finished the unlocks on my MiG-3 just fine. I simply couldn't connect to any multiplayer servers. 1
AndyJWest Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 And this is why the SP Campaign should be allowed offline- But no. It isn't a case of 'allowing' it. The missions are generated on the server, not locally.
Sim Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 It isn't a case of 'allowing' it. The missions are generated on the server, not locally. That is not true.
[TWB]Pand Posted July 6, 2016 Author Posted July 6, 2016 Your first post was sensible and to the point, should have stopped there... this one not so much These are just merely suggestions on how to address these issues, and may not fit their business plan; however, I am confident they will come up with solutions that will work going forward. I thought my experience in these areas might help them implement an adequate solution. Merely suggestions. by the way if you are going to quote me in your sig, please do it right Updated, thanks! _________________________ But the master server wasn't down. I connected and happily finished the unlocks on my MiG-3 just fine. I simply couldn't connect to any multiplayer servers. Their authentication service was operational (which allows you to log in). The master server proxy service (where multiplayer servers register, and where players browse available multiplayer servers), was non-operational.
LLv24_Zami Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 I thought my experience in these areas might help them implement an adequate solution. Merely suggestions. I think no one had anything bad to say about your suggestions. It`s great to have them. But the master server wasn't down. I connected and happily finished the unlocks on my MiG-3 just fine. I simply couldn't connect to any multiplayer servers. No, not today. I was talking about the past.
AbortedMan Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 I have signed off with Cheers Dakpilot for many years and in many forums, but I don't believe I have ever done it all in CAPS Cheers Dakpilot I just want to point out that this is the equivalent of your favorite pop star blowing you a kiss from the stage while you're in the front row frantic with excitement. Pand, I am reeling with envy right now.

-TBC-AeroAce Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 I don't think comments such as chill and go to something else are very fair. Some people (not me) have very limited time slots to play and may only get a chance to fly for an hour or so once a week.... I would be bummed out to go to work looking forward to playing all day to get bk to no servers. I think the suggestions to make things more reliable were good. But I must admit it is a rare thing
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 Sure but a simple server failure on the night watch is no reason to compare to CLOD, insinuate the DEV's don't give a crap about their audience, demand a detailed analysis and bemoan the loss of an entire genre. Has anyone here never had a computer crash? If the DEVs want to tell us what happened, that's cool. If they want to reset the server and drive on, that's cool too. It does suck you can't find a stand alone server like the old days but that is the new reality. I tried to log on, couldn't and watched Streets of Fire instead. I am not ashamed. Diane Lane is hot. 3
Jason_Williams Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 I'm on vacation and not watching this forum every second. Always send an email to support if there is a problem. And every one of our few outages over the years except one which was an Amazon Aws hack was a problem with a proxy server not owned by us and not always affecting all users. Our overall uptime is 99.9999% over the years or something like that. Once aware the team fixes it as fast as possible. Jason 3
