Unfortunately, you only get it when you preorder a game. After the official release you don`t get it anymore, so if you buy now BOM you should still get the sign.

Ah, so most people here are from before BoS was released. That makes sense, thanks :). Although I might hold off on buying the BoM package for now, as I thought my computer can handle BoS, but not really (no joystick, TrackIR, etc. and a crappy computer).

However, I should be getting a new computer, which should run IL-2: BoS very well, especially since they introduced 64-bit, and DirectX11/12 soon.

Let me think, this may be rather hard.

I've not played the game for 3 months. Damn, what are the controls? So taking off is fairly easy and landing is fairly easy. I still suck at gun battles. Well, practice makes perfect eh.

So I decide I need some practice at plane on plane. Not to worry. I get high in the air and take a look around, spotting the enemy airfield. Well, no one is defending and they're spawning. I dive in too hot, have to pull out flaps to stop crashing, a terrible failure. Retract flaps, go around. The enemy is starting to take off. My team noticed what I was doing and has come to play. We hit AA and camp the airfield for a few minutes. It's terrible fun. I expect it looks cool to a spectator except for the enemy. Soon the AA is wiped out and the enemy team finally comes to shoot us down. I'm down to only a few rounds so I run for home. My enemy is damage and soon disengages. I turn, re-attack. The enemy swarm is coming, the allied swarm is coming. I have no bullets!  The enemy is gaining, he's got the drop on me. I'm going down for certain. I power down to zero and yank my joystick hard back. The plane spirals in the air. The game world is a blur for a few seconds as the plane tries to cling on to the air. I don't even hear or notice the few hits on the tail. He overshoots. I blast the last few bullets. They miss! Damn! I'm still alive! My heart is racing. It's only been 35 minutes and I'm pretty much satisfied. I could quite possibly be the worst player on the server, but I'm having the most fun in a game for a long time. I've not shot anything down, but I've also not died a lot. Another enemy swoops in and wrecks my planes engine. I coast to the ground reflecting on a fun battle expecting to do a landing or skid it into the dirt, nearing the ground my plane is rammed out of the sky as I look at the enemies upside down plane. A flash of anger. For the last 15 minutes I stick to trying to stay alive since our team has almost won (Nothing to do with me) I get some hits on targets and practice following friendly players. Re-learning flying the 109. It's still a lot of fun. I end the round with 90 points and 3 deaths. I've only played one round and it's been enough to satisfy my gaming time.

The sound design, the atmosphere. The way the planes fly. The multiple mission objectives to bomb targets, attack tanks or play as tank and shoot other tanks. Engage with real players in fantastic russian and german planes. Play on vast, detailed maps. No leveling, just you vs the other player. Skill vs skill. It's a really fun game if your in the mood for it. The availability of servers to cater to noobs like me or seasoned pros and a friendly, helpful community of players make this game a really good bet if you want an accessible flight sim that is more sim than arcade, but not so much sim that you need a 300 page manual to learn everything then Il2 bos in its current state is certainly worth the money.

Don`t worry I got BOS and didn`t know about the gold label thing either. No biggie. It don`t make anyone better for having it. I really don`t care about the BOM label either. I`m not one for bragging rights label stuff... too kiddie for me. I throw away all the silly labels I get with pc parts that they seriously think I`m gonna stick on the side of my pc!

So besides TrackIR, there are similar things, e.g. Facetracknoir that costs nothing, but can still do the same thing?

This is Facetracknoir which uses a webcam to track your face. I don't have any personal experience with it but I've seen some great result footage like this.

Yea, I was just confused as to see nearly all of the forum with silver/golden IL-2 BoS/BoM underneath their name.

I'll have a look at it a bit later, until then I will search for a joystick, as I can't really play IL-2 BoS without getting 20 and below FPS.

Before I bought my TrackIR I briefly tested it out. It didn't work for me for one simple reason: glasses. Because I wear glasses the software would loose track all the time because the monitor would reflect slightly on my glasses and thus it lost track of my eyes and thus track of my face. If you don't have glasses maybe it can work.

I also wear glasses, but because I am playing on my 42" TV, I don`t sit only 1.2m away from it, so I have my TrackIR camera behind me. This would definitely solve your problem.

I don't have that problem with TrackIR 5. TrackIR 5 works fine, but I ment with Facetracknoir.  ;)

It was just a heads-up in case he wanted to try it (Facetracknoir) and wears glasses as well.
