Anyway I manage to do something on the one mission I was flying and landed with a slightly wounded gunner. Good show as usual Tip, Many thanks Bummer could of used ya in the earlier mission as numbers were less than optimal for the FNBF mission design. That said. Retnek, Bladebender, myself and others who joined later in the mission had a good time using P-40s, LaGGs and IL2s busting up Axis ground targets and sparring with Cat, Marta and the [TWB] crewe. *Look for more event style missions using the other maps as the updates have enabled the use of approximately 1/3 more ground pounding objects, moving and static, to be piled on. Target rich environments are fun. ======================================================= Reservoir was a tough mission. Sets up a great scenario for the next one. Well flown all.
[DBS]Tx_Tip Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 Reservoir Dogs... After aborting Primary twice due to cloud obstruction we moved to Secondary. First run was also aborted due to clouds. We finally had to drop down to cloud level and come around. Whoop! 3
Chief_Mouser Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 If I said that I didn't have a very successful night last night it would be an understatement... great fun though. 2

Sketch Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 (edited) As dawn broke, our element's task was to hit a small shipping port used by the Russians for transporting supplies and goods. In the lower left hand corner, you can see other elements flying out. The weather was good, except for large amounts of cloud cover. We intended to use the clouds as an escape if needed, and flew above them to 4000 meters. Regean and I flying in tight formation. In trail was CoreZero and Swear. Our target sighted, we spread out like butter across the port. Our ad-hoc plan was to attack the ships from different angles, avoiding the deadly anti air units patrolling the lake. As the element leader, I called each of the targets for my element and dived on my target. Sketch to Group - Bombs away! A little to soon on my bomb drop, but it does partial damage to the peer, boat, and a supply truck. In the middle of my engagement, Core began his attack run... Core to Group - Bombs away! Damn, a little to late on my drop. Regean sees my drop from afar, and begins his descent. Edited November 25, 2017 by [TWB]Sketch 3
Lusekofte Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 These FNBF get more and more action filled, not always a good thing for a IL 2, but it shows how real pilots had to go thru, and that matter for me. FNBF is making BOS series shine, give me some usage for it so to speak. It is my priority 1 hobby. I work a lot right now, rough winter-wether and heavy lifting force us to do it at night , weekends and do preperation work at day. This is why I could not take part in this rare opurtunity as we had with many FNBF on a row. Hope next time it will suit me better
Sketch Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 (edited) At nearly the same time, Swear begins his descent on his target. Swear to Group - Attacking one of the Anti-Air Boats... I think I'm going in to fast though!!! Swear some how bends his props on the water, but recovers the plane.... He then ditches on our side of the lake, and gets picked up by friendly ground forces. We regroup to the West of the lake, and then begin our attack run again with our last set of ordinance. We all agree to drop a little sooner this time around. Also knowing what direction the boats are facing, we agree to hit them long instead of perpendicular. I begin my attack second run on the same target... Sketch - Pickle out! Right on target, but not enough to destroy the boat. Edited November 25, 2017 by [TWB]Sketch 3
Sketch Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 (edited) Core requests to adjust target to finish off the boat I attacked. Permission granted. Core to Group - Bombs away! Direct hit! That boat isn't going to float anymore. Regean begins his 2nd run on a boat in the lake. In the distance, you can see the secondary explosions of the boat that Core and I destroyed. Another direct hit! The boat wasn't sunk, but took plenty of damage from that bomb. We regroup to the West of the lake again, and head home. Here I am landing (semi) safely. NN_RugbyGoth Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 Hey guys, great fun yesterday, very stressfull and challenging for our Yaks, we need to bring the numbers I guess if we want to compete. I had a question. I see 110 were flown and on our second run we had an encounter with 109G4s but in the roster no one said they would fly 110 and G4 is not even in the planeset. So I guess there is a rule on when and under what circumstances we can switch plane in the middle of the mission... So what is the rule? So that perhaps next time later in the mission we could bring our Yak1bs to the dance hall? Thanks!
Jizzo Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 (edited) The roster had 6 x 110 G2 and they where mostly flown by [TWB] who signed up on late notice for the open slots. As for the G4 you mentioned, those are undesignated aircraft, which you can take after you survived your first sortie. The only thing i pointed out to Tip already was, that he should try to mark them as undesignated aircraft again, like they used to be earlier. So that folks don't take other folks signed up aircraft and they end up having none left when people actually lose them. Edited November 25, 2017 by [TWB]Jizzo
[DBS]Tx_Tip Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 (edited) Friday Night Bomber Flights Mission Nov. 24th Kuban "Reservoir!" AAR Pilot Stats* Tough Mission. Well Flown All...Participation makes it Happen.Tip @Rugby. I believe you are referring to the complete ROE which explained that once you survived the first sortie in the aircraft that you signed up for you could take another available plane. Of course should all the planes that you wish to fly in a 2nd, third or more sorties be in use or otherwise signed up for. You would need to get with those who did signup originally for the aircraft in question. The Full Signup for Reservoir or any other FNBF will always be at our Battle-fields site and is listed on this forum as such. Full Signup, Roster sheet visit our Battle-fields site Here... With regards to the 110s. Those players participated in the earlier "Gobbler" FNBF and asked to fly in the Reservoir. As far as the G4's. I am unaware that any player took those as their first ride. 1.JaVA_KEBEN Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 Unfortunately some problems with my stick, and right in the middle of the fight ... hopefully everything is now solved The pilot of the 109 was very lucky, just at the moment that I had full vision ... my stick stopped ...ggggrrrrrr
Sky_Wolf Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 Here's a short video AAR of "Reservoir" showing an engagement between three Spitfires (Keben, Biggles, and myself), three IL-2s (Cat, Nocke, and Jumper), and three Bf-109s (a bunch of jerks). The jerks got the better of us. 4
FTC_Riksen Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 We took 2 G4s but that was for our 2nd sortie and not the first (which consisted of escorting the 111s to their target). We have the track of the flight if needed. Thxs for the mission Tip and all that participated.

Definitely time for a new stick Keben! 3
