Good , good , I fly wing with Pod with the last IL 2  if possible

Good to hear!

I need some help, being away this long!

Posted

Ha ha you are talking to the king of the treetop landing crew , but I will do what I can :)

Posted

Are there any IL-2s left? If so, I'll take one, it's time I pre-ordered BoK...

2 Pe-2s remain along with a Spitfire Pericles...

Rest all Full for Both sides...

Posted

In that case I'll take a Spitfire.. hopefully I can provide air cover for the IL-2s, but happy to fly other missions if necessary.

Tip, I can fly a Pe-2 to make room for Lucas if that makes things easier.

tip

pls Switch over II/JG11TERZEROLE TO THE ONE REMAINING 109G2 THX

Done.. It may work out that a [DBS] will fly 109 so Terzerole can fly 190.

Tippers, put me down as a Spitfire standby please :)

What???

On Friday the 13th to boot. Nice.

Pericles and yourself can figure out who's flying what.

Excellent night, thanks a lot to everyone involved!

I clocked two missions today, both escorting Il-2s alone in a Spitfire.

During the first one our group was attacked by four Fw-190s over Krasnodar. I heavily damaged one, and after moments it plunged to the ground. First FNBF victory ever, I think! The following minutes were a blur. I was attacked by four Germans, occasionally met pairs but didn't engage, and finally found a straggler heading to his lines. After a long time stalking him and trying to catch up, I fired a few bursts and detached his left wing. While I did not see him fall, I know for one that airplanes need wings to fly! A while later after an hour in the air I landed with the returning Il-2s.

The second one was much shorter - over Krasnodar, about 4-6 enemy aircraft came over us. Soon enough they were all onto me over the lake, and I suffered heavy damage. They finished me off before I could bail out, and that was the end of my night.

Looking forward to the next one!

First time flying bombers and it was quite a blast.  Flying in formation, lining up on the targets, getting hunted and shot down....looking forward to future sorties.

Communication is a problem, using ingame mesge is not the best idea, whisper is !

When waiting for help, give exact position (square), altitude (yours and ennemy's one) and number of ennemies if known.

As Razor said, a briefing was mad between Pe-2 and IL-2 but finally IL-2 made their own life on wrong target, no help from us when engaged 'cause over the Pe-2.

Planeset was quite hard for this one, more Yak would have been appreciate against so much fighters instead of Spitfires.

And last thing : i'm really disappointed to see guys using lights in fight. That's what i've seen in last fight against who i supposed to be TWB. On public server maybe but not on a serious campaign like FNBF guys, please.

I thought we had agreed on going to 0832. There we went. But yes, seems like communication should be improved.

We had. It was said many times and agreed upon. I beg to submit that it was the Il-2s that went to the correct target! ;)

Cheers.

One was on our channel during the briefing and Golgoth made it in english, he explained the strategy for the attack and then the scout. Maybe a misunderstanding.

At least the job was done and we know now how to improve our comm'. :)

Sure communication is the key but is worth nothing if it is ignored.

Can you be more specific about what was ignored?

For what I remember you asked for help giving only the approx number of ennemies with you (4 on 1 if I recall well). In NN flight school we have a whole course on how to communicate and specifically when engaged.

If you want help you should give at least position, altitude and heading (what we asked for when we were trying to catch you to help). The number of ennemies involved can be a plus, but clearly not the most important information.

And of course, setting a whisper before going airborne can let your hands free to use your controls while fighting instead of typing such info ;)

Guys communication is the key, but not only "how" we communicate, "what" is also a big deal in success!

Besides that, it was my first FNBF in ages and it was great despite I barely know the spit so my shots were all off. A bit confused to not have crossed any bomber thought...

I have some live video, I'll try to make something with it :D See you next time!

I wouldn't overanalyse it. Tip's cheeky Wulfsbane concept made it a nightmare (though a fun one) both over Krasnodar and Maykop, with just about every square kilometer swarming with enemy fighters. Tomcat's directions were clear enough but the problem is that wherever you looked there was a big flight of enemies ready to engage. Next time we give them payback ;)

Sure I would but this thread is not place for it, btw some information like enemy object position is enough (if enemy is capping it) and i know what information is needed to be useful.

BTW whole asking for help would not be needed because we grouped together near Maykop and went North, then came the intel from our attacking planes.

but ... then ... we are just a bunch of weirdos trying to have fun. At least the 216th will never, I hope, develop a military discipline. As much as that could help sometimes :)

"will never, I hope, develop a military discipline. As much as that could help sometimes"

Hum ...it s way less "developing a military discipline" than increasing efficiency both for fighters and bombers .

It s just about : my position /my alt /my direction and the ennemie ones,  including their number and type .

And it make a whole difference to know that , for our fighters  and finally for us (bombers) and nothing prevent you or forbid you from telling  all those essential elements by singing them ;)  .

You are right , we are not in the army , but just keeping what is efficient and necessary in the military thing . who /where : alt and grid / how many / .

We as bombers almost always fly with the NN as cover on Fnbf and also  other servers / happenings too , it s really not about a military thing just  that  reporting those exact and essentials things improves efficiency drastically and make a whole difference between " you fly safe to base" and "you re downed by ennemies"  ;)

Anyway it was a blast yesterday , even if (we Pe2's Golgoth +Bex + Pericles  + me)  have suffered a lot .

Feel confident in contacting us on team speak , there s always one of us who speaks english , and when in our group there s a guy that is not of our native language (french) well we speak english + french ^^  , pericles can confirm this . And it s a good thing for us, as it provides us an opportunity to improve our english speaking ;)

Cheers

@Fahrenheit

Bad mission? You're too hard on yourself!

I fly FNBF first to have fun flying with my friends.

We do our best to fulfill the mission and it is even better if we accomplish our goals. I fly exclusively bomber so it's much easier when we have a good escort as yesterday.

But you can not protect everyone everywhere!

I do not think anybody is grieving you for being shot. Everyone must have fun even our friendly enemies!

I hope you will be there next week my friend with as many NNs as possible.

And i agree toyally with 13NRV.

No military discipline is needed. But a clear warning message would be better (indeed i'am not sure i can delivered such a message  in panic ! :o: ).

>>Written with Google Translation. I am not as good english speaking as my bomber teammate.

Hey Bex, read againg above, this was written by Razor. ;)

We'll do best next time, agree with 216th_Lucas_From_Hell !

And there's no military discipline with NN, only try to have efficient comm' during fight.

Great flight yesterday... I agree that communication could be increased.

Here's a video of highlights from one sortie flown by the Pe-2s yesterday (Golgoth, Bex, 13NRV, and me). Only one Pe-2 made it back... lucky to be a Pe-2 pilot in virtual reality in the year 2017.

Great video Pericles !

Very good AAR. No more to add.

But...you missed one litlle funny thing at the end of my landing ....and I thank you very much for omitting my final mistake.

But the truth must break out ! :P

I am the only Pe2 to have come home safely without even a scratch on my painting. :salute:

Certainly in solidarity with my comrades whose plane was destroyed I mistaken of touch on my joystick and ... I retracted  my landing gear!

Result: my plane crashed gently. My crew (Golgoth, 13NRV) was safe. No Pe2 escaped from the last mission.

Pericles, looking forward to fly with you, it was a pleasure !
