Damn right I am! - and no offence was intended. Just made me smile given the generally mature playerbase we enjoy (and I mean that very sincerely) in WW2 flight sims. Long may it last.

Don't worry about offence, most folk here grew up when there was no need to mark any kind of potentially problematic content with a smiley ... rapier or broad sword, as long as the offence is as elegant as seen above, I gladly answer.

Just added BoM to my hanger, so I look forward to pirouetting around various airfields in a Ju88, and I will try to recruit a few other KG4 "pilots" to the fray.

I am assuming this is going to be a free-for-all as your post suggests?

Yup but hot as hell lol. 85-88 F at night is not easy to deal with

In celebration of the HS129 tank buster, I think there should be an event with it tank busting. It will be set on the Stalingrad map in Feb 1942, outside the Kessel. There will be 3 groups of 30 T-34s spawned near the frontline. Opposite them will be a German defense line with 3 lines of AT gubs, one after the other. The T-34s must break through all 3 lines and liberate a town to win. The German defenses will be very tough and powerful, with multiple 37mm, 50mm, 75mm and 88mm AT guns and MGs. When the T-34s breakthrough the first line, a counterattack of 30 Panzer IIIs takes place, and the next line of German AT guns and MGs spawn. When this is breached, there is another counterattack, and the same for the 3rd line. Behind the 3rd line is a large amount of German artillery and rocket artillery that has been firing on the T-34s throughout the attack(the Soviets must make sure to attack this, as rocket artillery especially is very good at killing tanks). If the Soviets kill all these, they can keep going forward to a village which is the local command post(this spawns after the Soviet tanks get within a certain distance of it). It will have lots of trucks, halftracks and staff cars all over the place, and a few MGs and dug in AT guns. Once the Soviets kill all this, they have won. Whenever all 40 T-34s in 1 attack group(there are 3, remember, all attacking on their own axis of advance, through different defense lines, towards the same objective, meaning that group 1 may have breached lines 1 and 2, but group 2 maybe only have breached line 1.) are killed or immobalised, another group of 40 spawns back at the start line to countinue the attack. Thus, the Soviets will keep grinding through the German lines with arrition until they break through. However, if the Soviets do not kill the HQ staff cars and halftracks in the rear after 8 hours, they lose, with the HQ moving off to the rear in a column. Thus, the Germans must slow down the Soviet advance by continuously attacking the T-34s, while covering the defenses with fighters. The Soviets are trying to speed up the attack by killing the defenses before the T-34s have to meet and fight them, and defending their tanks. On their own, the T-34 force should be strong enough to breakthrough, the German need to weaken them while the Soviets must merely protect them, although killing defenses will still help advance faster.

 

This mission will be a particularly long one, and is interesting because it will focus all the activity on 1 point. Instead of plane wandering all over tbe sky, the action will be concentrated in the skies over the Soviet tanks. It is long to allow it to go either way, and to keep both sides focused on the objective. I hope that someone can make this as I am completely hopeless at the mission builder. The main game decider in this mission will be the German AT planes, since the Soviet tanks will eventually breakthrough unless their numbers or constantly being reduced by the air attacks. After all, if less T-34s get there, less of the German defenses will be destroyed and thus it has a higher chance of repelling the next attack. The key factor will be which side can keep control of the sky over the battle and conduct ground attack. It think that this should be a popular mission, as it has 1 objecrive that everyone can work towards, there are lots of ground targets in the area for the ground pounders and lots of targets for the fighters in that area. The idea of killing off a wave of T-34s so that they will have to be replaced by new tanks back at the start point means that both sides will struggle very hard to kill the tanks or keep them alive. The Germans do not need to kill all the T-34s, just weaken them to the point that the defenses can kill the rest, while the Soviets must just keep their tanks alive so that their tanks can brwakthrough against the AT guns. Some will die, but as long as enough make it they will kill the AT guns and keep going. Maybe there should be 10 player T-34s, so the players can keep an eye on things and help out if needed. There should be loads of HS 129, Stuka and 110 G-2 slots, to deal with the huge push by the Soviets.

Some impressions of yesterdays Pe2 / Il2 missions:

 

 

Just when we were preparing for start,the airfield was attacked by two 110's.This Peshka is lifted by the blast of a SC 500..

 

 

...but it could be worse!
