Overcast (weather setting) with or without snow/rain crashes game

Version 2.001c:

 

Trying to open a SP or MP mission with any of the "overcast" weather settings whether or not there is "precipitation" (snow/rain) crashes the game back to the desktop. Missions load the briefing screen, but clicking "Start" gives you a CTD.

 

This is easy to test. Just try to launch the SP mission "Ghosts in the Snow" - which worked well in previous versions of the game.

I have this problem too, but apparently not everyone has it (for instance, JimTM does not have it).

In Quick MIssion when you select overcast it CTD.

 

Also, I somehow disabled all server and A.I subtitles (not using "H" either).

Confirmed here to.. It worked before so not sure which patch broke it. Its a big big shame as the weather is a really good aspect of the game. A simple fix??

Just tried to fly with snow overcast in QMB on the moscow map. It crashed on 3 out of 3 occasions.
