Hopper64 Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 I have my prop pitch assigned to my stick, but how do I know when I have the appropriate amount provided to the prop? I just can't tell. BTW-Love this sim. I didn't know I would have this much fun just learning how to fly again. Wonderful work, very impressed.
Sim Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 You don't really control propeller pitch angle directly in LaGG-3. The "prop pitch" sets a desired RPM level (from min 1600 to max 2700 I believe) and the actual pitch level will be adjusted automatically by the control unit thingie. =AH=_Sid_ Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Yes it a constant speed propeller, you'll want it set to max RPM for takeoff, landing, aerobatics and combat. The thing to watch with a constant speed propeller is you don't firewall the throttle faster than the unit can adjust for or you risk doing damage to the engine. See this post for a video explaining the difference between a fixed pitch, variable pitch, and constant speed propeller.
Hopper64 Posted November 22, 2013 Author Posted November 22, 2013 (edited) Wow. That was great. Constant speed prop. Thanks much for all the help. The key, as you said, was not to make fast adjustments. Makes perfect sense to me now. Edited November 22, 2013 by Hopper64
