startrekmike Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 Anyone have any good titles for books I should keep my eyes out for? I am thinking about books that will help me understand the Eastern front air war in particular as opposed to a mix (I have read some books on the ground war in Russia already). Gotta be ready for the new sim and this is the best way I suppose
csThor Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 (edited) For Stalingrad itself there are two books I'd recommend: The former covers the whole battle, the latter concentrates on the timeframe after the conquest of Sevastopol up to October 1942. Edited December 18, 2012 by csThor 1
Feathered_IV Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 (edited) Very much enjoyed this one: Currently reading this one... Edited December 18, 2012 by Feathered_IV
ATAG_Slipstream Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 Is 'over fields of fire' good Feathered? I've had it on my kindle app for ages but not looked at it yet.
Feathered_IV Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 (edited) Hi Uther. It's good. Egorova was certainly in the thick of it. Only about half way through, so can't comment on the rest yet. My only gripe would be that the English translation reads as a bit too "English" at times. Edited December 18, 2012 by Feathered_IV
ATAG_Slipstream Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 Thanks, will have to make a start on it.
vl6 Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 (edited) Really recommend this one if you like a book with more action and less theory : "Stuka Pilot" by Hans-Ulrich RudelIt's not totally about Stalingrad but the vision of a pilot that fought there and in many other battles in the Eastern Fronthttp://www.amazon.com/Stuka-Pilot-Hans-Ulrich-Rudel-Schiffer/dp/0887402526or if you like to read on the screen,I found and I'm posting this complete pdf version:http://www.mediafire.com/?63p28p1agpxlctn Edited December 19, 2012 by vl6
