=WH=PangolinWranglin Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 I have learned how to taxi German aircraft using the separate wheel brakes but do Russians have the same brake setup? My wheel brake controls (the default comma and period) won't work in a Russian aircraft. Any help is appreciated!
71st_AH_Mastiff Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 (edited) wheel breaks input; above the left wheel break.. it just a squeeze break system you turn your pedals in direction you want to go, then break to turn. if you change aircraft say Russian to German you can just change them on your game while your on the ramp. just hit esc, then go to settings, then got to main inputs and you can change them pon the fly, also I16 uses split wheel system. not cantilever. =WH=PangolinWranglin Posted June 21, 2016 Author Posted June 21, 2016 OOOOOOOooooohhhhhhhhhhhh... Ok. Thanks!
andyw248 Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 Same here - I've mapped one of the levers on my warthog to those brakes.

This remap keys is not need, the same "wheel brakes + rudder" that work for Russian planes (and Mc-202), work for Luftwaffe planes (and P-40). Very convenient for people with "3in1" twist rudder joystick. If the guy don't have rudder pedal with "toe brakes", no reason to complicate alternating between keys, use the "Russian brakes" for all, in the end the result is the same: brake right or left wheel only. =WH=PangolinWranglin Posted June 29, 2016 Author Posted June 29, 2016 (edited) What about the Pe2? That godawful thing won't go in a straight line on takeoff no matter how hard I try. Are the rudders just to responsive or I just incompetent? It is the only aircraft that I cannot take off. Edited June 29, 2016 by spaceman1999
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 Are you setting the RPM to 90-100% before taking off? On my end the Pe-2 is really easy to take off without any braking.
=WH=PangolinWranglin Posted June 29, 2016 Author Posted June 29, 2016 I'll try that when I get home. Hopefully that works.
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 Good luck! Also, if you're flying the 1941 Pe-2 the RPM increase key is RShift + = and you need to hold it for a long time.
Eclipse4349 Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 I have learned how to taxi German aircraft using the separate wheel brakes but do Russians have the same brake setup? My wheel brake controls (the default comma and period) won't work in a Russian aircraft. Any help is appreciated! You may already have this sorted out, but... There is no need to change settings when switching planes, as others suggested. There is a separate keybind for the Russian brake system, called "wheel brakes". Pressing this without pushing a rudder pedal will brake both wheels. Hitting wheel brakes while pressing the left rudder will release the right wheel and turn you to the left. Vice versa for turning right. Leaving the tial wheel locked makes it much easier to control - the tail wheel will simply skid the turn. The German planes have left and right brakes activated with the corresponding toe pedal, with their own separate keybinds for the left and right brakes. Hope this helps!
