BOM single player, can I assign a button to turn ON and OFF object labels?

Tried to play without labels for a few  days, and ended up not finding the enemy or loosing the battle area too easy.

Lots of missions in campaigns with no fights.

If I remember correctly in IL2 was possible to assign a button to turn labels ON and OFF is it possible to do this  in BOM?

On the campaign, you need to select the easy difficulty, then press I (I think) to toggle between icons on/off. On the Quick Missions, select either easy or custom difficulty (making sure icons are enabled) and hit I.

I usually do the "campaign" missions on normal difficulty. I've mapped the three engine "limiters" or assists (I can't remember what they're called, but they're up at the top of the "Engine Controls" page) to a single keystroke, so when the mission starts I turn them off immediately, so I have complex engine management. Then I can choose about the icons (I have trouble spotting and tracking targets, so sometimes I cheat  ) - I think the default key to turn icons on or off is "i". I can also turn the HUD completely off (including notificiations, etc) with "h" if I want to. By the way, if I turn off the icons, the little airplane symbol on the "Briefings" map disappears too, so I can try real navigating, timing the legs, finding landmarks etc, but being able to turn the cheat back on if I get completely lost!

I believe in the best of both worlds!

Im doing it on expert, it shows the enemy at the combat zone when using the map.

However it wont show them outside the combat area , and just got bounced by 2 Migs when I was going to land, got hits all over the wing and radiator and after evading them twice made the landing with the damaged plane, fun mission.

Map should show enemies when they are close.

Just last night I was chased by I-16 when heading home with my damaged 110 and it did show in the map. That was fun mission, I got coolant leak after making too many passes on enemy airfield. Because of that my no. 1 engine overheated and eventually stopped. The I-16 reached me finally and shot my other engine to pieces but I made succesful belly landing. I was happy to make it over friendly territory alive.

There's no option for toggle airplanes/vehicles icons (the labels) only, this is tied with "HUD", due that "less keys is better". Default key is H.

HUD OFF no 'BS' on screen - including subtitles for Radio CHAT, orders.

HUD ON can only allow turn off the digital panel for speed, altitude, compass, using "I". What turn ON/OFF too the "GPS" over map.

I don't think this is quite correct. (Sorry... Sokol!)

For me "i" turns off icons (labels on aircraft and ground targets) and the "mini-dashboard" which gives speed, heading, alt, etc.), leaving just the heading in the mini-dashboard area, as well as the icons on the map, and other HUD things.

Then, "h" turns absolutely every HUD element off, including the subtitles, game events, engine and flight "notifications" and, ahem, helpful flying tips!

Or... have I just repeated what Sokol just said? I don't know!   :cray:

Maybe you're right (If are not yours... Pink_Glass.gif ).

In my game only that "Allow Spectators" (why not "Allow External Camera"?) is ticked, I will not change this for check.  :P

The case is, are not a command for turn ON/OFF icons (labels) over the planes/objects only

The OP can have fun playing with this settings to find what is more most appropriate for him, have on TWO keys (I and H) for test.  ;)
