=FI=Genosse Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 (edited) Folks, I've never ever troubles running BOS on my machine GFX-wise yet there's still one thing that still bothers me ... As you can see the AA doesn't work properly especially in front of clouds. I've already tried to figure out how to solve this issue yet still without any luck. So, is there any way to get this sorted out with my ATI GFX card? My in-game GFX settings are as follows: HIGH 1920*1080 NO Full Sync NO VSync NO Multi GPU support NO SSAO NO HDR Distant Landscape Detail NORMAL FPS Limiter OFF Antialiasing 4 Gamma Correction 1 My settings for my AMD Radeon HD 7860 are: Anti-aliasing Mode: use application settings Anti-aliasing Method: multisampling Morphological Filtering: OFF Anisotropic Filtering: use application settings Texture Filtering Quality: HIGH Surface Format Optimization: OFF Wait For Vertical Refresh: ALWAYS OFF OPenGL Triple Buffering: OFF Shader Cache: AMD optimized Tessellation Mode: AMD optimized Frame Rate Target Control: DISABLED Thank you for your attention and possible replies in advance ... SharpeXB Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 Apparently this is a limitation of the game engine 2 - We do not work on it because it's a native consequence of technology. From other side - this technology provides much more realistic visibility inside the cloud. 1
=FI=Genosse Posted June 15, 2016 Author Posted June 15, 2016 Apparently this is a limitation of the game engine Thanks a lot for your reply, m8! So, it seems I can't do much about it, uh? Gen "Squares! Squares! Everywhere I look!" osse
SharpeXB Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 Since it appears to be a failure of antialiasing what might help is DSR or the ATI equivalent ASR? But that comes at a big performance hit. I tried it a while ago and can't recall how much it helped this problem. It's just super sampling the image to remove jaggies. What does get rid of the effect is a 3840x2160 monitor. The new crop of graphics cards make running that sort of resolution much more achievable than last year. 2

Then I need to start saving some money, I suppose. Thanks again, Sharpe! Gen "What money?" osse
GrendelsDad Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 I would like to confirm what Sharpe says. I use no AA at high resolution(5120x2160for now) and for me it is great. Some may want 2x but for me not needed. I am using a 40" Samsung TV for my center monitor. Just be sure it has fast (low) response time if you do go for a T.V. 1
SharpeXB Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Yeah typically with 2160p I use no antialiasing at all. First of course because the resolution makes it almost unnecessary and second because it's a frame rate killer in UHD. A few games don't have it as a setting so I'll go into Nvidia CP and set it to off there. For most flight sims I use a minimal 2x which smooths out wing edges and wires. 1
Sokol1 Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Folks, I've never ever troubles running BOS on my machine GFX-wise yet there's still one thing that still bothers me ... This antialiasing issue occur when are particles in background, in you picture are fog, same happen with clouds or locomotive steam (ATI card). 1
71st_AH_Mastiff Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 turn off your Multi-Sample to application controlled; you'll get more FPS; use the one in the game settings. 1
=FI=Genosse Posted June 20, 2016 Author Posted June 20, 2016 Thanks for your efforts, folks! I think I better keep it as it is and use the natural in-game GFX settings while having the application controlled ATI Radeon ones ... Gen "I thought I might ask them about those squares" osse
Sokol1 Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 This antialiasing issue occur when are particles in background, in you picture are fog, same happen with clouds or locomotive steam (ATI card). BTW - Similar effect (defect) happens in ARMA3 if are water in background (in this case with Nvidia GTX970, ATI RiP).
