II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 (edited) Dear Devs, Thanks for the crackdown on hacks and cheats. It is paying dividends already. Many who were at the top of the leaderboards not very long ago have fallen by the wayside and it again feels like the skies are ruled by mere mortals. The pilot I had the most concern about (not the guy with his own thread) is still a good pilot but his 20:1 is a rather pedestrian 1:1.7 this month. That is quite a bit of a change. I'm glad you guys gave warning and allowed people to modify their behavior. There will be new cheats and the weirdos who feel the need to use them but I'm confident you will do your best to stay ahead of the curve. So, good on ya and thanks again. seafireliv Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 But it`s a constant battle. Anyway, it is some good.
-TBC-AeroAce Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 Can only be a good thing. PS what were the actual cheats people were using
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 I forgot the specifics but basically an external program would work in the memory and allow a player to fly with difficulty settings different from the server's. That way people had unlimited fuel and could fly for hours on 1 litre (thus flying light), unlimited ammunition so less need to aim, icons to spot the enemy earlier, aim assists for better gunnery, external views for visibility and so on.
-TBC-AeroAce Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 Ow ok. That kinda takes the fun out of it. Glad they have sorted it out
Yogiflight Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 I will never understand, why guys do such stuff. They have to be really poor minds.
VBF-12_Snake9 Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 icons to spot the enemy earlier This is one of the toughest things in the game. With icons on anyone can rack up numbers. One of the hardest things to prove also.
seafireliv Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 I will never understand, why guys do such stuff. They have to be really poor minds. I don`t see what they get out of it. They achieve nothing at all.
Jason_Williams Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 You're welcome guys. I hope everyone flies fairly now. Jason 6
Rjel Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 I've never understood the mind set of those who used cheats to inflate their scores. I can't quite figure out what is to be gained? Bragging rights? But who would they be trying to impress? Certainly not many outside of a flight sim community would give two hoots one way or the other. Obviously word travels pretty fast within our little world so what is the benefit?
ESCOMM_FlyMaker Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 The question that remains is: SweetFX, Reshade and other external shaders enter this list? Because if the answer is yes more than half of the players use.
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted June 14, 2016 Author Posted June 14, 2016 No, it is not included. A little was lost in translation. They are targeting hacks which give players an unfair advantage. Not software that lets you tune the artistic appearance of the graphics package. 1

Not software that lets you tune the artistic appearance of the graphics package. Glad to hear it. Now we can all stop running around flailing our collective hands in the air about banning "mods" - sweetfx and such are not included. Any online game needs either a completely honest player base or a good anti cheat system. Good job gang.
6./ZG26_Gielow Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 You can date a lot of girls having 20:1 kill ratio. 4
fjacobsen Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 Well this kind of cheating is like "Sportsmen" doping themselves. The outcome is not their real performance, but rather an artificial boost to their performance putting them in front leaving the real sportsmen behind. I never have understand what fun it is to cheat this way - cheating would not make me feel superior, but just let me feel like a cheater - but so we are different.
TWC_Ace Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 (edited) Cheating in sims is like enjoying riding a bike just stolen from a 7 yrs old kid.... really, its a true sadness... Edited June 14, 2016 by blackram
Major_Hero Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 Now I understand why my ass was handed to me on a platter every time I joined multiplayer. I love an even playing field, as we all do. Fly with your own skills, abilities, and aircraft. It was the case IRL wasn't it Great news for all
Trooper117 Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 I'd just ban the cheats straight off, no chances, no messing... Once a cheater, always a cheater, they deserve nothing. 7

Livai Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 Farewell to the old school that believed into a piece of software.

KoN_ Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 So the crack down is a warning ! ..??? Has there been an update that i have missed with this anti- cheat in place . confused . Or is personal accounts and game being monitored ..??
216th_Jordan Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 I think you'll leave a trace in online stats for one thing. The stats being developed by 2 devs makes it even easier. You can easylie check how many rounds were fired or how much fuel was spent for example.

Jason replied to your similar question in the other thread http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/17455-dd-today/?p=363994 Cheers Dakpilot "Let me be clear. We have tools to detect and defeat cheaters. Some third party cheats are pretty clever and got around our previous security. We take cheating seriously and we have added further tech to catch the cheaters and will ban them if caught. We won't comment any further. We are not asking for any help from the community other then do not engage in cheating.
