seafireliv Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 (edited) I`m tired of being picked out of the air by enemy aircraft in the SP Campaign because the Wingman never warned me of a bogey on my six. I understand that I need to keep my head on a swivel and I do, but sometimes this fails and I miss an enemy fighter on my six. The AI Wingman NEVER warns of a fighter on my six. He should sometimes, if you have one and he is able (in the viewing cone). This is even more imprtant on higher levels with `Ace` AI shooting you dead almost instantly. Instead of recording my pilot`s voice which is really flannel, it would`ve been far better to record these essential dogfight comms messages first. Edited June 10, 2016 by seafireliv 4
1Sascha Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 (edited) I agree that the wingmen seem rather useless in the campaign and their behavior isn't easy to understand. I've had many missions where I arrived at the "action point", only to find that my flight had left me for some reason. Seems to happen more often in the 190: I get bomber-intercept missions with 4500 - 6000 m intercept altitude. But when I climb to that altitude, my wingmen sometimes don't follow me up there. When I use the autopilot to get from my field to the intercept-point, it'll go there at much too low an altitude, putting me in a position where I can't get close to the bombers. It also seems weird that I don't seem to have a wingman in many missions - one of the guys from my flight should stick with me by default, unless I tell him otherwise. A lot of times, the other three planes in my flight will do what they want once the action starts. We could use the old IL-2's radio system where you could command your whole flight, your flight's sections/elements and your wingman separately. I'd love to be able to split my flight in two, telling one section/element to go for the fighters while I go for the bombers and my wingman covers me. Edited July 6, 2016 by 1Sascha
Dakpilot Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 Not to distract from the issues pointed out But one solution to the autopilot problem is to climb to altitude, set heading, and engage Level autopilot for the 'cruising' part part of the flight Cheers Dakpilot

In fact, I like to get a little more than what the mission calls for, since I don't like to run into the enemy co-alt.. I just set my trim and throttle and hit time-acceleration. Not too hard to keep the plane steady at 4x time-warp. Just saying that I feel there's something wrong wrt the 190 or the missions generated for it. Auto-pilot doesn't get me to the correct altitude and wingmen don't seem to stick with me in some cases. I haven't had that behavior in the 109s, yet... or at least I don't remember it ... :/ S. 1
SharpeXB Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Yes that would be a great idea. I can recall other games radio chatter including "You've picked one up!" "Watch your six" Etc.
SCG_Space_Ghost Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 The AI were much more vocal in 1946 - I'd like to have that level of communication and SA here.
Yogiflight Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Yep, the only thing, that is a bit strange in 1946, is the AI calling for help, when they are doing a headon attack on an enemy fighter.

Hell yes. Who on earth would think it was a rational design choice to have the player's character doing all the talking? This is presumably what happens when a person who is only concerned with multiplayer suddenly finds themselves in charge of the singleplayer part of the game. I honestly like and admire the developers. But geeze, they do not know much about singleplayer gameplay.
