Please give me a reason to buy BOM

You missed the point of my post. The people that make this game need to get creative and try different things including price adjustments, better server browser features, COOP, etc., to kick start the North American market. No large player base means no compelling multiplayer experience. I am not asking for cheap planes for my own sake. I want a cheap intro game package to bring in more players from WarThunder. I think the Devs had this in partly mind when they implemented mouse control and tanks. I don't know if they wrote it off as a failure. Do you fly East Coast server by choice or due to WOL ping limitations?

Why? I don't have much time to fly, but when I do I fly on a East Coast based U.S server.  Quite often it will only be myself and one or two others, but since the missions are well built there is ALWAYS something to do and fun to be had.

I am in in New Zealand by the way, so I have to fly in the middle of the day.

I guess it depends what you are expecting to do...full on Air-quake?  Or perhaps objective based co-op type missions?

Unfortunately it actually does require getting together with a group of people and organising times and creating your own hype to get the ball rolling.

That is how some of those TAW and Bomber nights etc happen, there are posts in these forums and people are pro-active about getting it started. It takes community involvement.

Basically, what I am trying to say is Do It Yourself. Whining about the situation and  waiting for other people to do it all for you or expecting a company to lower a price so you can get a better deal is just plain lazy.

I wonder why this thread was moved out of the General Discussion forum? Was it not suitable for General Discussion?

Do you want the truth or the official statement?

Yeah, I think we can guess. Oh well. It doesn't really matter. Most people have made up their minds on this issue. I guess the franchise can try and survive as a European thing and write off the North American market. Reminds me of that scene in Spinal Tap when they bump Boston off of the tour for the band and the Australian manager says "I wouldn't worry about it though, it's not a big college town."

I think you're looking too much into it. The list of features you propose is not one that would only affect the North American market, and I'm sure they don't pick their moves in a 'what would Europe like? OK, what about Canada? And what about Brazil?' fashion.

There is a small team, with a small budget, with small time on their hands. The European market grew so strong because European players really put a lot of effort into it. From memory the popular servers with interesting missions are all hosted by Eurasian nations (DED, WoL, coconut's, ZG26's, Fighting Legends, Berloga, etc.), the most popular events started out in European times (like FNBF) and so on.

Now, the guys at 4./JG 52 and 19th GvIAP are doing an excellent job putting forth a solid initiative for your time zones, go check them out. This isn't a problem of features but initiative - namely, the Eurasian player base went ahead and did their thing from early on while the North American one failed to embrace the initiatives of its own players during that period.

If features were the only reason behind this, there wouldn't be multiple people flying all the way from Vladivostok early evening until 1AM in London. That's lot of time zones. If Wings of Liberty isn't working, go to the NA-hosted servers with AI for example, but go ahead and gather some people to fly with, even without purchasing BoM. Things grow from there.

At TAW we regularly flew with flights formed all the way from Sweden to Colombia against opposition from Russia to the USA and it went fine, also. It only ended when people had to hit the bed or get back to work.

The numbers of players and when they got in is a function of when they bought the game. All of the proposed solutions talk about engaging a very small existing player base. The point I try to keep making in this thread is that not enough people in the North America have bought the game. This is not up to me to fix. This is not up to the Dev team. This is up to the business/marketing people who should really start get creative in trying to figure how to price and bundle the game and get the Dev team to work on features that are likely to draw in more players. People reviewing this game such as ApeofTheYear, were clear that the game is great but people in North America should might want to hold off on buying the BOS because the muti-player population is so sparse In the Western Hemisphere time zone. I read that review before I bought BOS. In fact it was because of that review that I held off until the 50% off sale. The review was dead on. I like the game a lot but and if I wrote a review I would write the exact same thing.

Any team that does not take into account how to expand sales by region is not doing its job particularly well. Consumers do tend to behave differently in different countries. Price segmentation did happen. Russian players were given a cheap 2 plane game option a while ago, so I am pretty sure this is not an alien concept.

If I and others hold off on buying BOM and all the servers all go to BOM maps I fear that the multi-player population will get even lower.

Tornado...If you can join us tomorrow at 3pm EDT(I think)  for SNBF you will have a good time.  The missions are very dynamic.  Plenty of AI on the ground for sure.

We are like Jedi knights. Few in numbers but the Force is strong with us :D

ain't that the truth!

There would be more people on; if they would cut the server umbilical cord! and let us host our own CO-Op Made missions.

Jedi mission builders are even fewer.

It is a question of time we are learning the ME and its limitations.

The way I see it, learning more and more on the ME(mission editor) and that it is just that a ME and not a FMB(full mission builder)

like the old IL-2 FMB's of yesteryear.

I say I should be able to make a 8 plane co-op mission that is immersive enough with enough content to make it

interesting to fly with objectives and consequences for the way the mission is carried out and played out.

Although the FMB is not as complete as the old UP 3 or HSFX MODS  FMB with limited vehicles, planes to make historical

scenarios it should be enough.
