ACG_pezman Posted August 16, 2016 Posted August 16, 2016 I am still wonder - how do You know what kind of guards air regiment is meaned under G.// ? Fighter? Bomber? Far Bomber? Diver bomber? Recoon? Assault? Should it be more correst - GIAP or ShAP? Well, right now we are just the 19th Guards, but in the future we will be able to distinguish fellow units by the number. Regular Tags: 19 GIAP = 19.G//name 20 GIAP = 20.G//name 152 IAP = N/A 17 GShAP = 17.G//name 114 GBAP = N/A Historical Tags: 19 GIAP = 19.GIAP|name 20 GIAP = 20.GIAP|name 17 GShAP = 17.GShAP|name I Americanized them for the simple fact that we are an American group (western hemisphere) and also it's a game. But if historical reference is important we will change our tags for events that require that adherence to history (not aware of any but maybe F/SNBF or InWar). But the tag, in my opinion, would be too long and cumbersome if it were "19.GIAP//" or something like that.
707shap_Srbin Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 Well, every historical unit is a part of history. I dont know even one squad (even American), wich shortened from, for example, II./JG52 to J52. I dont know any USAAF based squad, whi shortened from for example 354FS to 354. And, we may remember, NA-based squad, named as independent fleet squadron. 13 OIAE. I respect them very much because they took this name, and didnt short it or americanise it It is my humble opinion.

I understand your point of view panzer, however I come from the FPS community where tags had to be unique to your squad. I could do the same as everyone else but why? I want our tags to pop; that is to say that I want them to stand out on the board. Call it peacocking if you want but I think the tags are cool
707shap_Srbin Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 Call it peacocking if you want but I think the tags are cool Mate, I just want to say, that it is historical name of real regiment. With real pilots. They flew that war, had victories and MiA/KiA/WiA among their numbers. And using a "shortened", "popular-looking" version of real regiment is , IMHO, a dishonour.

SCG_Neun Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 I've got guys visiting the site and wanting to join with your unit. Are you guys still around, do you check the messages? I'm going to bump this up to the top again...
curiousGamblerr Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 Yeah we're still here. I'm just wounded IRL at the moment.
VA_NAVY Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 Rising from the ashes I have just come through a transition in life. Moved to the Pacific NW. Hope to see you guys soon.
[Pb]GeoKnightV Posted May 10, 2017 Posted May 10, 2017 Im not a super experienced pilot but im practicing my combat techniques. Basic flying is not a problem for me. I fly P-40E for the VVS. Can I join your squadron? Tired of flying alone and getting swarmed by 109's LOL. Im in the US, but I fly mostly when everyone else is asleep over here so Im not really online during the day.
