zl2bmh Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Hello All. I want to map the throttle on my Logitech extreme 3D pro joystick. It shows on the keyboard as going from 1 - Idle then increasing to 9 - full power. How do I transfer that to my joystick throttle. Thank you for any help. zl2bmh.
Sokol1 Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Click in the box ahead of this with 1 - 9 ( just to don't change this assignment), in the new window opened, move the 3D PRO throttle back and forth several times until the axis became registered. free screenshot software Then test in flight - sometimes is need restart the mission for changes became effective. If the axis are inverted, click in the small gray box with curved arrow until then became highlight white for change axis direction. Note: For each control you can have up to 3 different ways - keys, joy buttons, joy axis - to control, if want. 1
zl2bmh Posted June 5, 2016 Author Posted June 5, 2016 Soko and Chief. Thank you both so much. Worked like a charm. Now I've got you two, would you mind telling me after the 4 firing buttons, gear and flaps taken care, I have 6 free buttons. What are the 6 most common used parts during this game then I'll map those remaining buttons. Hope you don't mind telling me, I don't mean to be cheeky. Thanks guys, Jim. zl2bmh
Sokol1 Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 Depends on what mode you fly, NORMAL with engine management controlled by AI or EXPERT with engine management controlled manually by player, and too plane preference, Bf 109/Fw 190 has less manual controls than Russian planes. But, as "rule of the thumb" prioritizes engine management in that buttons - prop pitch and radiators for Russian planes - same for Luftwaffe planes, but German fighters can have prop pitch controlled by AI - leave secondary controls like start engine, landing gear, flaps on keyboard as they have few use - 1 or 2 times in each flight. You can get better usability of joy buttons if map one of these buttons in base as modifier - need a external soft, I advise Joy2Key, easy to set, few computer resources usage and don't cause issues like joystick software eventually cause. This button press Alt key, and using then you need only two buttons for weapons, example: Btn1 - fire MG Btn 2 - fire cannons Btn 1 + modifier button - fire rockets Btn 2 + modifier button - drop bombs The buttons spare in that way in grip can be used for ZOOM, center camera...
