Guest deleted@50488 Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 (edited) I know this looks silly, and I also know that it has been mentioned in other threads how acccurate il-2 BoS / BoM skies are at night, with the precise constellations according to date, but I was up for a test and the result was an A+ !!! il2 also perfectly computes, given the date, up to nowadays ( tested with May 2016 ) the rise and set times as well as the correct phases of our Moon !!!! Wow! Just to think there are so many other sims, including civil sims, which do not even come close to this level of detail... Edited May 30, 2016 by jcomm
Jade_Monkey Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 I keep forgetting it, i need to do some more night flying on a clear night sky.
Sokol1 Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 (edited) The phases are OK, but the light... is always full moon, don't matter the phase. http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/20830-astronomy/?do=findComment&comment=331085 Edited May 30, 2016 by Sokol1
ShamrockOneFive Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 That is a REALLY nice touch. Something that makes me really happy to hear!
seafireliv Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 (edited) Nice to know although when I`ve flown at night (I`ve done a few) it`s just night, I ain`t no expert on the constellations or moon`s phases, but at least there`s no `uncanny valley` feeling. ...Well there is a bit, but not to do with the night sky. Guest deleted@50488 Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 It's important even for night VFR. That's why ELITE Flight Sim, which I used in my IFR training many Moons ago, has proper phase and rise / setting times, for it :-)
