During my endless quest to get optimum performance/graphic fidelity in original IL-2+ mods I always used one of the stock simple missions in the Kuban map

I think it was a few G6's intercept 4 IL-2 + 2 escorts raiding the harbour

I became very familiar with that view

My Il-2 pre-online warm-up; 1 vs 2 on that Kuban quick-mission :)

I liked the Kuban co-ops in the Hyperlobby but it was never popular when you hosted them.

Move it to the PTO you would get a big influx on Chinese and Japanese interest and more Western interest than currently shows up on the servers.

Japanese certainly could be attracted, but in gaming I've always found Chinese market somewhat awkward. They have their own restrictions and limits imposed on products willing to be present there. But to be fair not every theater would be attractive for them. China-Burma could be, but New Guinea or Australia (Port Darwin) not really.

Also, something for Lucas since I cant into Russian at all and we already had movie discussion here :) :

Lucas or anyone else who can into Russian, what is the title of the movie used in this clip ? And is it worth watching ?

I know the song, not sure of the origins of it, but I just know it from Кино band, since I've used to listen to them a lot. Пачка Сигарет and Cтук are one of my favorite songs :)

On my phone now but from the thumbnail it looks like "Battle for Sevastopol" (Ru. Битва за Севастополь), based on Lyudmila Pavlichenko's story.

Reading on it, its actually Ukrainian movie (with budget supported in 20% by Russian investors) and has moderately positive comments. I think I will give it a go. If everything else fails, then still main actress is pleasant to watch :)

North Africa/Med late 41/42/43 could be nice, with a lot of equipment being shared with Eastern front on both sides boosting BoS/BoM as well as keeping people happy who are looking for a change of scene

but I still think Kuban in DN engine could result in some spectacular scenery and fun flying..add in DX11/12 and we have a result!!

Cheers Dakpilot

Not the " result ", most are hoping for. However, realistically anything other than another Eastern Front offering would most likely be beyond their resources.

1c and ubisoft Forgotten battles,Ace Expansion pack and Pacific Fighters  the good old days with big teams

plenty of money and the prestige of making the world's best WWII flight game of that era with millions of

copies sold around the world.

Plenty of money  wine women and song with many devoted pilots eating up all the Gaming gods had to offer us.

How teams and flight sims have shrunk with all this ''limited resources'' talk and all the hopes and fears.

Realistically........

Actually BOS was launched with a big party, wine and women. I was there and have pics to prove it. So, perhaps all is not lost.

They spent everything they had on the party?

Limited resources now.

BOM is finished and we continue to prepare game for release on Steam. This process is not fast and it also depends on Steam. Please be patient.

Ok good to hear. And to be clear i wasn't criticizing. Just curious.

It also depends on Steam, alone? Interesting. :scratch_one-s_head: To keep a Offical Website up-to-date depends on Steam also? Very interesting development somehow.....

I understand somehow the long-term process with Steam where both side poker for the best cards. But the own Offical Website? Where is there the process that is not fast and also depends on who???

Now I am really confused again. Reading the Forum here it says BOM is offical released but going a step further to buy BOM it says "you are purchasing a Early Access Version"? Somehow confused for a customer who is searching where to buy this finished game what all talking about here only what he reads there is about a Eary Access Version what could be a different Version? A Early Access Game and a finished Game are two different things......... :coffee:

Knock it off. You're not confused you are just stirring the pot. It's very simple. BOM development work is essentially complete, but the work to launch on Steam and on the website SIMULTANEOUSLY is not complete.

They are preparing everything to put BOM on STEAM at 50% off for the poor people like me to buy it and put up the early access

for the next campaign on the official website for the rich people to buy.

I like to dream.

It's good that you like to dream because BOM won't go on 50% sale for a while, I'd say next summer, maybe Xmas if you are lucky.

So plenty of time to keep dreaming  :P

Depends how hungry they are and how poor they are too for their summer holidays.

They put up BOM on steam at 50% off and watch just how many copies they will sell.

Pretty sure they aren't hungry, poor or struggling to survive, so not a chance of having a new release on sale right after it being out.

Be patient and the sale will come eventually, until then there is always Stalingrad.

I'd heard another developer say that Steam claim the right to discount a game at any time without the maker's consent. I think it was the guy in charge of the Men of War series.

Actually I do not play much at all with the controller/ID problems and the distant server lagging and packet loss.

The cheaters probably did not help things too either farther back.

Was working with the mission editor but it was starting to feel to much like a job and much less like a hobby

due to the complexity of it.

Well it is their network and gaming site I would not see why they could not if the game is not moving and being sold by the hundreds of thousands of copies like this one.

If they were sitting on actual product that was taking up physical space in a warehouse, I could see justification for that argument. A few gigs of programming sitting on a hard drive someplace that represented mere fractions of a percentage of their total volume, can't really matter to them as much as we might want to believe.

i actually find the ME to be fairly easy, well i mean just as tedious as the old FMB. once you make a group once, all you need to do is save it. then like the old FMB you can just load up the groups with all the behaviours. having AAA groups and flight groups is a good start. I think the worst part about creating missions in any mission editor is trying to be creative. i suck at decorating airfields, don't even know where to start.

Look I know how the mission editor works and if you go to M4T and download the scores of Co-op HSFX missions I made you will see I really know how the FMB worked.

At least when I put an 88mm Flak gun down the damn thing new what to shoot at by default.

Did not have to group anything or hold the object by the hand to get it to shoot at enemy planes.

When you have to group objects to clean a map up every time you add elements you know why they added grouping it makes for a lot of triggers bells

whistles, proximity switches alarms and crap.

FMB was dead simple, super easy to use.Even easier than ARMA 3's ME and that is pretty simple too.

I have to agree. I did try IL-2: BoS's mission builder and while its clearly very customizable and poweful... the simplicity of the old IL-2 FMB was great. I could create MP and SP missions by the dozens with only a little testing and not a lot of effort to tell each unit what to do. That came with some downsides too but it was a great thing.

A future feature would be some sort of middle ground variant of their current builder that does a lot of the basic work by default and lets us crank out some fun missions. Abstract some of the featuresets and then let the pros jump into the complex builder mode when needed to fine tune as an option. Obviously what I'm asking for wouldn't be a quick or simple task but it might be semi-necessary.

To get back to the original topic:

I would love to see Africa/Med. Desert warfare, fighting over convoys in the Mediterranean, battle for Malta, etc.

Battle of France would be interesting, too. 109 E-series, 110 C-series, early Heinkels and Stukas versus Spit/Hurri Is, Blens, Fairey Battles, Hawk 75s, D.520s and MS.406s

That said: There is one strong argument against most theater-suggestions, and that is "re-usability". If they decided to go with, say, Africa/Med, how many of the current Allied planes could be re-used? Probably just the P-40, right?

Winter War or Continuation War would be a completely different matter, though - most VVS/Allied planes would fit in there quite nicely. Or at least as older/newer variants of planes that are modeled already.

Pacific would probably mean the most work. Most planes would've to be designed from scratch, plus the need for completely new ground units and (more importantly) ships. Can't do a PAC-scenario without carriers and their escorts, after all.

It would be interesting to get a proper PAC-simulator again, though. There has been so much focus on the ETO and Eastern Front in these past years and not enough naval action, Zeros, Corsairs or SBDs.
