Idea: Mission Sequence / Sense of Progress

Hi Pat!

I still play the old IL2 1946 and what I like is that the dynamic mission generator could string together a sequence of missions with different parameters. e.g. you could therefore recreate certain times of the war or a frontline, but use the generator to fill the blanks.

What I am thinking of is Code or a Program that uses the existing features of PWCG to give it a structure.

Like this:

Stalingrad. The Germans arrive, they try to get and have air superiority. The Russians counter attack, then it is pretty even and in the end the German 6th army has to be supported. The Luftwaffe is pushed back.

For that we would need certain parameters so that PWCG can recreate this:

time, area/places, mission types

For the Germans It could look like this:

(I am uncertain with the time)

Phase 1: German superiority

week/month 1-3

55% fighter sweeps

20% patrol missions

20% escort for the bombers - bombing certain airfields/AA

5% recon missions

With every phase wie define places or a certain area where the most missions will happen, this (hopefully) gives us some sense of time and place of the conflict. Ideally it would immerse us more, because we follow a certain (broad) goal.

Phase 2: Russian Counterattack

week/month 4-6

60% frontline air cover

20% escort bombing on the frontline (Panzers/Artillery)

5% attacks on trains to cut the supply

5% scramble missions

10% even more recon missions

Phase 3: Stalingrad Pocket

week/month 7-9

90% escort missions for bombers and Ju52 to the pocket

10% more scramble missions

With this system we could construct a scenario in general and play out different phases of the conflict.

Is this possible? Would you take interest in something like this? Does it even make sense?
