MP issue - Spectate not available - 2D compass not working

This may have been reported before, couldn't find it though.  This is by the way an issue that has existed for many months.

 

If you are in MP when the map rolls and comes into the new map at the Briefing Screen, sometimes, although you have not chosen an airfield, your aircraft type defaults to the previous map and the Start button is green.  If you select an airfield, keeping the plane choice, I think if you click Start it does nothing and you eventually see the Spectate button which if you click actually puts you in the aircraft.  The only problem is that the 2d compass does not work.  We refer to this as the Spectate bug. 

 

I have discovered a work around.  When a new map comes up and if it shows my plane already selected as the previous map, I choose an airfield, choose a different type of plane, then click anywhere on the map and the Spectate button comes up as it should have originally.  From that point, choose an airfield, the plane, etc. and hit the Start and the 2D compass works as it should.
