Potenz Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 may be in a future we will see it again. http://www.thevintagenews.com/2016/05/24/russians-flying-aircraft-carrier-actually-worked-deployed-aircraft-mother-ship-successfully-engaged-targets/ 1
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Operationally the 'zveno' unit of the Black Sea Fleet accomplished nearly every single mission in it was tasked with before coming to an end in 1942.
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Having one of those during FNBF would be really, really cool
seafireliv Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 (edited) When I first saw this in IL2\1946, I thought it was a made up fantasy plane done for laffs. Imagine my surprise when I discovered it actually saw service. An aircraft with character, a cart with wings, bullied and despised by some, much like the I16. Very well realised in IL2... It inspired me to this. I can only hope we will see it in BOS.BOM... But why do I doubt it? Edited May 26, 2016 by seafireliv 1
Feathered_IV Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 In the early Zeke vs Wildcat days they used to run a Zveno mission set in Nomonhan. Everybody would rush to grab an I-16 and hook up to a bomber before they taxied out for takeoff. Lots of ribbing of the TBD pilots, thanking them for the chance to catch up on their memoirs and offering to get out and push etc. Action time when the Ki-27's turned up was a riot. The formations literally blew apart as ratas suddenly detached and swarmed like hornets in defence of the bombers. Great fun.
Scarecrow Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 (edited) If they were to ever include a TB3 in a future release that would be possible. If they did I wonder what they'd do about the pencil? Edited May 26, 2016 by Scarecrow
ShamrockOneFive Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 Remember the Whale Wars? That was fun! Oh yes! I did a dogfight version where there were dozens of TB-3s in the sky and another coop version where it was just the two planes but we had a bunch of guys manning each of the gunner stations. It was one of the most hilarious things I ever did in IL-2. 1
