carve_gybe1 Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 What is currently the best head movement kit out there? Not looking for VR. Is trackir5 the obvious choice? Thanks!
Dutchvdm Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 I agree with Luke. The only drawback is that the proclip is quiet flimsy. I'm going to use the trackir 5 monitor unit with a delan clip. Might even try to make it wireless. I mean.. How hard can it be :)?? Grt M
SCG_Space_Ghost Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 There are some open source headtracking systems on the market that people seem to have had great success with but I've never fussed with it. TrackIR5 is where it's at. 2
carve_gybe1 Posted May 25, 2016 Author Posted May 25, 2016 What about using the reflecting thingy that attaches to the hat rather than the clip? No wires required. Is the head tracking performance degraded with that?
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Treat the clip with a little love and TiR5 is still the benchmark.
GrendelsDad Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 My track IR 4 can be a little jumpy if there is a lot of backround light.(with the hat clip) The Pro clip is better, but when the hat clip is working well i notice no difference between the two.

The clip can do this with bright light or low sun behind as well. I was having a devil of a time with an IR remote sitting on a table behind me before I figured out I was getting a reflection off that device. Tech is weird sometimes. 1
SYN_Mike77 Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Did you know that your Trackir 4 will use the Trackir 5 software?
GrendelsDad Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 WHAT! I will download this eve and give it a go. Thanks Mike for the idea.
SYN_Mike77 Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 You still wont get the full lateral movement but in a cockpit you don't really need it.
seafireliv Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 Trackir 5 is the way to go, less jumpy (although it still does it sometimes). Oh and I did use Trackir 5 software with Tr4 for a while which was better.
