II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 It kinda sucks but looking at the leader boards it is pretty obvious the game has been seriously hacked. The scores of even the top guys were always in the realm of realisitic til about two months ago. I always assumed they were just really good pilots and for the most part the old hands with 'relatively' high scores probably are. If anyone was running hacks in the early going, at least they were subtle about it. Now there are pilots with 20+ kills per hour over a twenty hour period.......................with hardly a ground kill among them. I will continue to fly online but it takes quite a bit of fun out of it when certain names show up in the server. They are becoming prolific and extremely obvious without naming names. This isn't even about the guy with his own dedicated thread as I've never flown against him. Something does have to be done for the game to continue growing. Isn't there some sort of a modern version of the old PunkBuster software? Something not too invasive but reasonably effective? These guys will kill this game if not checked. 5
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 I appreciate the concern, but is there a need for to open a separate thread to voice it? Here is where this discussion is right now: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/22448-hacker-ilyapavlov-1337/ And a tip: try, if possible, to not get too worked up about it. For every cheater there are 500 honest pilots so the skies are still clear overall, and it seems the majority of them hang around the same server which you can always avoid. Paranoia does more harm than the cheating itself - I realised this after unloading five bursts of 20mm fire onto a Bf-109 from close range without results. I started to think 'blimey, am I facing a cheater?' only to realise the guy was adding a bit of nasty side-slip which made me miss. I corrected my gunnery with that in mind and poof, fuel, coolant and oil trails everywhere, elevator ripped off and then a wing detached. Keep a cool head and let the developers work on the cheating, they are onto it already. 1
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted May 23, 2016 Author Posted May 23, 2016 (edited) Yes, it is a general concern and not a rant against an individual pilot. I am fully aware of that other thread. Secondly, paranoia is fear of an imagined threat. The numbers of these guys has increased dramatically in the last couple of months and has only recently started to impact my enjoyment of the sim. I'm sure I am not alone. I don't mind the guys who have discovered exploits within the game. I don't even mind the guys who are subtle about their hacks but this new wave is kind of outrageous. Do you have a fix for it? We are working on solution. Temporal personal solution: Do not visit the server/s where this has been seen.
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted May 23, 2016 Author Posted May 23, 2016 Temporal personal solution: Do not visit the server/s where this has been seen. I am generally positive about this sim and will defend it's many stong points til I'm blue in the face but your "solution" is among the worst possible reply's I could have imagined.
SYN_Haashashin Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Its a personal solution/opinion, if you think you dont need to use it, dont. Its what I will do untill devs come up with something. Now that we know they (devs) are working on it there is no need of more topics about this so Im closing it.
