Did I just purchase a second copy of the sim that I do not want or need?

I've already submitted a ticket to customer support on this but they appear to be confused, so I'll try here, also.

 

Over this past weekend, I purchased the "Premium Edition" of the sim for $79.99 thinking I was getting some sort of upgrade vs. the version that I have now that I'd purchased back in December 2014.  It says there's a "Special Aircraft Set Included," "Unlocks Included," and "Early Access, July 2015."  So I figured, hey, this must have a bunch of stuff that I don't have in my version.

 

However, when I go into my account and look at my two activation keys, they both have the same name: IL-2 Sturmovik (Premium Edition).  My December 2014 activation key shows "Key Activated" while the May 2016 purchase shows "Send As Gift."

 

????

 

I don't need a second version of this game!  If it's an upgrade, I'll proceed with the download.  If it's not, I want a refund.

Is the second key for Battle of Stalingrad of Battle of Moscow? If it's Battle of Stalingrad, you bought two of the same.

 

If it's battle of Moscow, you bought two Moscow maps, a Moscow campaign, the MiG-3, I-16, P-40, all-metal Il-2, lighter Pe-2, Bf-109E-7, Bf-109F-2, Bf-110E-2, C.202 and Ju-88A-4.

No Moscow...it's a second key for the Battle of Stalingrad.  <sigh>

 

I'd claim stupidity, but you have to admit the website is a tad misleading with its "Early Access, July 2015" tag line.  Made me believe this was an upgrade.

 

I will continue to pursue this with Customer Support and push for a refund.

Ask them to trade that key in for a Moscow one - it costs the same, and it brings a lot of cool stuff in terms of content. I was flying with Stalingrad Premium until last week, finally bought into Moscow and I couldn't have been happier.

Yes, I agree with Lucas. If you like BOS then BOM will give you 10 new planes that you do not have now plus the Moscow map and the smoother gameplay that seems to be evident in the new game as well.  I too could not be happier especially knowing how well these games are supported by the Dev. team.  Maybe a bit of a Lang. barrier so it may take a little time.  Love the name DUMBO as well!

I did the same when buying BOM getting a 3. copy of BOS, I sendt them a message about my mistake and they fixed it I got my money back. Give them time to fix this, and consider using those money on BOM. 

Going public with it is not the way to go, you do not yet have any dispute with the developers

Thanks, all.  Sounds like a switch to BoM is the way to go.  

 

And my sincere apologies for the previous post sounding like a rap on the developers...this was never my intention.  They work hard and they've put together some seriously cool stuff for us "flight sim junkies" (who are few and far between, I realize).

 

P.S.  I first started using the handle "Dumbo" back in my old RB3D on-line days.  It seemed like every pilot on-line back then had some "tough" sounding handle, so I decided to pick one that was just the opposite LOL.  Besides, if anybody's young son or daughter was looking over dad's (or mom's) shoulder during a dogfight, I was counting on them to shout: "NO NO NO, DADDY...YOU CAN'T SHOOT DOWN DUMBO!!!"

Problem resolved.  They transferred my activation key to Battle of Moscow.  

 

Flew my first one-on-one sortie in one of the Moscow maps and got my first kill!  (Novice settings, of course, but still so much fun.)
