BOM store site purchase and steam.

Since I pre-ordered BOM here a long while ago, there was a message upon purchase that mentioned if I want full steam integration I need to contact the developers to get a steam key for it...

 

...yet i see that my steam version of BOS seems to have updated to include BOM now. Am I missing anything? Do I still need to contact developers? confused.

BOM will be released on Steam in the near future.

But we use a single client, BOS Steam version includes all content from BOM therefore you can play BOM via your BOS version now.

When BOM is released on Steam you will have an opportunity to get a Steam BOM key on our site.

I still don't understand why this is necessary.

 

If the game works, which it does, why would I need a separate BoM key?

If you want to have BOM in your Steam game-library. It's important for some people.
