OK, I'm stumped...

Brand new to this sim...just fired it up tonight and played around in simple take-off/landing mode to come up with a basic "starter" map for my CH Fighterstick.

So how do I get the map to appear in the lower right-hand corner of the screen?  In game, I've got M designated for changing map mode (Full, Compact, Hidden), but all the M button does is change the map mode...it doesn't toggle it on/off in the cockpit.

What am I doing wrong?

Use the in game briefing button.

Use the default "o" button to toggle map (on/off). and there are "H" key( hide all info. you can use it even when you playback your tracks) and "I" for toggle HUD info.

Thanks for the replies.  Unfortunately, no joy.

Even with my map size set to COMPACT in the basic settings, when I hit the button the MISSION BRIEFING map fills the screen...which, of course, I don't want while flying.  I want the little map in the lower right-hand corner that I remember seeing one time.  And repeatedly pressing the button does nothing to change the size of the map on my screen.

And all the H button does is toggle the icons on/off, just like the button does.

So confused.

P.S.  On a positive note, first impressions...the sim is beautiful on Ultra settings.  I love the Messerschmidt!

You welcome!

The default action for " O" button as you know show/hide MISSION BRIEFING, when you are in flight, this map will cover the entire screen.

The default action for "I"  button will show /hide instrument panel, navigation panel (when you are in flight). When you are flying, if you first press "O" (this will bring up mission briefing map) and then press "I" it will hide/show all map markers in MISSION BRIEFING MAP.

"H" button will hide/show GUI, also will clean your screen totally from all information, (even when you playback your tracks).

so to see mini map in right-hand corner, first press "I" to see all icon, then press "M", one press will brig compact mini map, second press will bring up little bigger map, and third press will will hide it

If you press the "H" before, i.e. and your screen is clean, pressing the "M" or "I" will do noting, you have to press "H" one more time to bring Up GUI information to screen, this will activate "M" and "I", then press "M" to operate as above.

Thanks so much for the DETAILED reply, G_GART!  I'm away from home on a business trip right now, but when I get back later this week I will give your instructions a try.  Sounds like a fix.  Much appreciated.   :)

that wouldn't be a fix, it would be the way the game works.. its not broken.

Sorry.  Poor choice of words on my part.   :)

I've got two computers going right now.  One where I'm on the runway in the sim, and my laptop with G_GART's instructions in front of me.  I'm following them to the letter, and still no joy.

What are the difficulty settings you selected as expert mode does not show the mini map.

As "TP_Jacko" stated, before you push the start button, if you choose "expert" in realism setting, it will not work and you will have only cockpit view, when mission begin, but it should work if you choose "Normal" or "Custom" in realism setting, (Maybe you have assigned other features to "I" or "H" buttons in key mapping) otherwise I can't help you more than this, sorry! and you may contact the support team.

Well, I finally figured it out.

In order for the key to toggle between the different map sizes, you have to have the "Normal" realism setting selected.  I had been using "Custom."  Once I switched this to "Normal," there were my maps in the lower-right hand corner.

Download one of the Maps from here

and use it on your laptop, depending on which one you use, you can flightplan your intended route (very simply) on the map showing times and headings

Problem solved  :) in an alternative way
