The SP campaign needs major improvement

I'm probably going to get flamed by all and sundry but whatever...I'm a paying customer so I'm entitled to my opinions. Before I launch into my next part, keep in mind that I LOVE IL2 and the game that we have now (visual quality, etc). However....I have an issue with the SP campaign(s). ie

 

Its nice that its in there but honestly what is it meant to replicate? SP campaigns are meant to be done from a first person perspective but what we have isn't. Its like a copy/paste of the quick mission section but with a historical overlay. The issues I have are:

 

1. its not a first person campaign. You shouldn't be able to choose any/all a/c. Where's the ranking structure? where's the immersion? where's the personal 'buy-in'? 

2. the missions themselves are just copy/paste again and through the beauty of some sort of generator, what it spits out sometimes is just crap. eg. I choose to fly an intercept mission in my BF110...so I spawn, and there's just me...one BF110 against a flight of PE-2s and a flight of P40s. Who in their right mind sends a lone BF110 against 2 flights of a/c? I got this mission 3 times and each time I got shot down quicksmart.

3. The successful mission requirements are just ludicrous. 'must damage atleast 2 or shoot down 1' - really? How about 'disperse bombers' or 'managed to stop bombers'  - I think getting the bombers to NOT drop their bombs on their intended target is more important than minimal damage, when the bombers then go on to destroy their target anyway. 

4. Throw in the fact that if you get shot down/killed on a mission...what happens? Nothing. just 'cancel mission' and refly it. eh? That sounds like a mulligan to me. 

5. Unlocks - who brought this in? IRL any and all improvements were implemented based on availability, stock, etc...not some silly points system. This isn't Battlefield. I also don't get the fact that we have to endure through the SP campaigns in order to unlock them for MP. For a lot of us, MP is what will keep this sim going...why punish us for not having to sit through the badly created 'campaign' by restricting our ability to use anything/everything available in MP? These unlocks don't guarantee that you'll be better than everyone else. 

6. Radios - did the russian/german pilots not have radios? 

 

anyway, the above are just MY opinions. I'm interested to hear your thoughts. Pls avoid any fanboy'ism....this game isn't free and I'm only looking to see what everyone else's opinions are. My belief is, we're paying for a quality product. If what we get is not up to scratch, its upon us (the customers) to say so, not just take it and pretend its perfect.

I voted poor design. Just add the "pilot levels" making the game progressively less enjoyable as you continue to your list.

 

Perhaps the campaign is incrementally improving: I would not know, the pilot level issue has driven me away from it entirely.

As Han stated, they are continuing to improve campaign. Remains to be seen what those improvements are. At least military ranks were seen in one teaser picture.

There's quite a gap between options one and two. Which is where I'd put my vote. That and resources are finite so filing in what one thinks should take a backseat so attention can be focused on the SP campaign would be interesting to know too. And of course it's not always simple to change where effort is spent. If you only have so much operating capital and different skill sets are required, hard to revert staff adjustments might be needed. That may not be the case here though, I've no idea.
