Panzerlang Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 It appears the LaGG has six mappable levers in its cockpit, which happens to match my pair of Saitek quadrants. I'm wondering if the BoS Bf109 series has more or less?

BTW, since the brakes on the LaGG technically is a lever, aren't there actually seven?
Panzerlang Posted November 20, 2013 Author Posted November 20, 2013 (edited) Thanks Fink. Yes, I guess the brake-lever is, technically, a lever. I'm using my gun-trigger for that one. The POV-hat maps ok in the settings panel but will not work for anything I've tried it for in the game. I wasn't aware the 109 had a Kommando, I thought that was a Focke Wulf innovation. SYN_DerHesse70 Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 I think the controls are equal for all aircraft. There are already functions in the control menue that you don't need for the Lagg (air shutter, air brake).
Finkeren Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Actually I'm not perfectly sure, that the 109 was fully automated, that's just how it has always been portrayed in flight sims. Also, I made a mistake before: The 109s supercharger is single-stage, so no lever needed.
Feathered_IV Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Getting great use out of the hat switch on my MS Sidewinder. Up and Down for mixture, Rt Ctrl-Up/Down for Radiator shutters, Rt Alt-Up/Down for Oil shutters. Still got the left shift and right shft/ctrl/alt keys left over to make it even more functional. Come to thing of it, the left/right hat switches should come in handy too...

Also the pitch is a rocker switch, not a lever. I think the radiator shutters is controlled with a three way switch (open/close/neutral). So i think, it will only have two or maybe three levers: Throttle Oil radiator Flaps (if the wheel can be controlled with a lever) Edited November 20, 2013 by Matt

LLv34_Flanker Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 S! With the re-designed radiator from F-series onwards you could choose automatic or manual. Prop pitch was indeed the rocker switch. Mixture was not adjustable due the fuel injection. AFAIK the oil cooler was automatic ie. controlled by a thermostat and actuated automatically to achieve more or less 70-80'C temperature. The work load for the pilot in Bf109 and Fw190 was considerably less than in most, if not all, Russian planes and many other Allied planes as you had only one lever: throttle. If you get to find German reports and evaluations on captured planes you usually find an analysis of the cockpit ergonomy and workload imposed on the pilot.
