Game version 2.001 discussion: Battle of Moscow

I didn't like the added flying advise "climb at 260 kph" etc., at first, but it grew on me and I felt it was improving my handling of specific aircraft. I have a big enough monitor that means these messages pop up just out of view so they don't interfere with my peripheral vision.

They can be switched off in user interface settings:

Me too! I flew two of the scenario missions from each side last night and was very pleasantly surprised at the improvements and how (relatively) easy they were to complete at PL 12.

These missions are not pilot level dependent... all the other standard missions are.

do a reboot?

Yep, that solved it completely so far as I can tell. Was able to fly 3 missions after that with no issues.

The "tips" are anoying. It keeps telling me to rise my gear.... IN A STUKA!!!!

I'll take care of that for you with my .50 Cals

Is it possible to get this picture in higher resolution ? (1440p preferably) I want it on my desktop

Yes this. Can we get this pic in largest possible wallpaper size? I saved it to my phone and love to stare at it.

By the way, all of my recent standard generated missions were successful. Mission goals were archieved and I made home alive with pilot level 11.

So, they are doable. I am not the greatest pilot but with a little care most of them

can be passed.

Edit: with fighters at least

I wonder why fighters are prevented from escorting fighters with bombs? Surely it happened sometimes in the real thing? I`m also surprised fighters won`t escort bombers in bad weather... again. Why? None of these should be an absolute. If a bomber can make it up, there should at least be a chance fighters can too. Otherwise all are grounded. There should be at least a small % chance that fighters took a chance to go up with the bombers.

The rest of the patch very good though.

Thankyou for the update :salute:

Steam version here. Updated it yesterday and it ran fine. Flew a couple of missions earlier today and it worked fine.

Now it gives me a "please update your game"-error when I try to log into the game... :(

EDIT: Oops.. nevermind. Steam had the small update that came out today queued but didn't download it by itself for some reason. All good now, I suppose. :)

I've been having a blast unlocking the skins for my MiG :)

However, I do have one critique. Would it be possible to make the grass shorter around the airfields? The truck parked next to the plane is almost swallowed up by the tall grass.

Did this hotfix correct the "retract landing gear" notice when flying something like the Stuka? That one was both equally funny and annoying.

Nice pics Borys!

MiG is a really nice looking plane. Unfortunately I suck with it :D.

Just updated with hotfix and click play. Nothing happens, program doesn't respond. Rebooted computer and same thing. :(

Is rear-gunner responsiveness improved with the new tweak introduced?

I tested this last night but I couldn't really quantify any major difference in behavior... My gunners are still going passive when enemy fighters are in clear view and sub-1KM in distance.

I tried it SG, the results were positive. Dove beneath a Heinkel with my MiG, and once I came up on the upper hemisphere the top gunner wrecked the living s*** out of me before I set fire to his plane.

Will the P-40 and MC.202 be made available for purchase now that Battle of Moscow has been released?

That screenshot from the update looks NICE.

I hope its from in game, but it may be a shot from one of the cutscene movies? Looks almost too good to be true.

It's one of the mission loading screens. I saw it earlier today when flying campaign.

Well, it's just the truth, Game is shelved again.

Thx for your very constructive reply and all that.

My update went fine. No issues at all.

This whole development is a work of art. The improvements and extras that have been made in such a relatively short time is truly fantastic.

A big thumbs up from me guys, thank you.

Please remove technochat stall warning, this just dumbs down the game, these are not 4th Gen Fighters with maximum AoA alarms.

inb4 "you can remove it in the flight interface settings", that's not the point, in multiplayer, everyone should be on the same playing field, and to get the most advantage, since multiplayer is competitive, people will turn this feature on, which just dumbs down the game.

I would also add option to remove engine/oil/radiator/damage technochat in multiplayer as well, as you have to be aware yourself

But this stall warning one that has been added really dumbs down the game by a magnitude.

Was at first a bit reluctant to take the upgrade since some of you seem to have had problems but for me the upgrade was seamless (still on win 8!) and no problems with control mappings or anything. Game seems to load faster and run more smoothly and my first impressions of the Fw-190 in 2.001b are positive as well! :good:

hi devs i'm not seeing any targets or battle lines on WOL server since patch, they do appear after i've been shoot down though.   other than that nice patch. thx

A stall warning, really? Is this visible in expert settings like the engine overheat etc.?

It's not in difficulty settings, it's in flight interface settings, hence it can be used on even Expert server (it's more BS technochat which in my opinion, most of it should be removed)

Edited by RoflSeal

Ah, I see, a shame it can't be filtered out by server settings.

If we are given more 'options' regarding flight info then we should be also able to remove it. Frustrating.

Techchat on expert was fine as it was. I do not really need landing advice aso in expert. But I do not want to disable techchat totally because I need it to know wether bombs are armed, which intervall and which mode of bomb release I chose.

Technochat features like that are fine, and others like throttle position, radiator position, which power setting you are on etc, But others like stall warning, overheat warnings are unnecessary and just dumb down the flying experience.

I don't have a problem with the on-screen advice system. I think it's a very nice way to provide a bit of hand-holding for people new to the genre, and if you don't like it, you can turn it off.

As for people grumbling about it being available in "Expert" DF servers, well, if you're so competitive that this bothers you, I'm amazed you can (or think others can) spend the eyeball time to glance to the edge of the screen to read the techno-chat at all. I can't, even when I'm just trying to land. I'm to focused on - y'know - trying to fly.

Obviously, the more choice, the more options, the better. But this is a strange one to complain about. Personally, I like the idea, and I like the way the devs - despite us being such a conservative (small 'c') bunch - are trying to innovate.

The mission icons on the map (like borders, objectives etc...) are not there. Yes I checked they were selected as visible for the right side...

When did innovate mean dumb down?

Who am I kidding, its been like that 2010.

Found 2 new issues rads don't reopen after the startup sequence which is not that bad but my main issue is the engine throttles at least on the Pe-2 tend to desync.

I would like the option to force users of a server to actually read the aircraft gauges if i want to. That is all. Why is that a bad thing?
