SAG Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 Hey guys, ive been looking everywhere and cant seem to find any HD map that includes a representation of the shape of the airfield instead of a Square that says something like "Karpovka" I'm looking for this type of file so i can finally print it out and start dead reckoning (i'm tired of WoL's GPS)
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 Try this: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/13908-map-stalingrad-web-browser/ Get the download version, open the files and patch them together as you find more comfortable
SAG Posted May 17, 2016 Author Posted May 17, 2016 Well, apparently the downloadable version doesnt have the same files as the online version, tje downloadble version does not show the shape of the airfields unlike the online version
curiousGamblerr Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 (edited) Something like this? http://tiles.il2missionplanner.com/moscow/moscow.png (It's a giant image, like 12000x12000 pixels, so be patient with it loading) I can create the same out of the tiles for Stalingrad and V. Luki maps, but those don't have airfield annotations. Edit: For dead reckoning, I would definitely suggest using my tool or Nobby's tool that Lucas linked (both tools do basically the same thing). Having that vector and distance info is essential, I can't imagine navigating without it Edited May 17, 2016 by curiousGamblerr

curiousGamblerr Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 Oh that is nice! I'll have to ask Nobby where he got those tiles
beepee Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Does this help? http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/15105-bos-airfields-reference/
SAG Posted May 18, 2016 Author Posted May 18, 2016 Does this help? http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/15105-bos-airfields-reference/ Thanks BeePee, ive already seen that one but is not useful for printing a map, i want to use something like @NobbyNobbs has on his mission planner APP where if you zoom in, the arfield icons will dissapear and the airfield layout image will appear, its pretty neat and it would be great to have those files !
curiousGamblerr Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Hey SAG, I just got the tiles from the latest update. Stalingrad now includes airfields drawn in the same way as the Moscow map. I can share the files with you, but the original tiles are DDS files that might not be useful to you. How do you want the files? I can generate another big map for you and put it somewhere better for image sharing if you want, might make it easier to download. Or you can just use Nobby's or my tool once we update them I'll probably me messing with the images this weekend and I can do whatever then.

curiousGamblerr Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 No problem. If you've got the tiles and know how to use GIMP to stick them together you can do about everything I could do so I'm probably no help then. I was just thinking to compress them to make it easier to download- if you've got the files locally already that won't help. I don't have any recommendations on specific resolutions. To get decent detail of the entire map a few hundred Mb is probably as small as you'll be able to get it. 1

Ok Curious, i also fixed a couple of errors that the original files had (one pixel misallinged 3rd part of the map and a partially un eareased airfield icon), i could put them online if you, Nobby or anyone else wants them but IDK if the new stalingrad map version that was just realeased is better than the one i have stiched. either way, im getting together a dead reckoning kit and will make it available on the forums when its ready
NobbyNobbs Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 I've stitched all three maps from last update, they available for downloading there: https://yadi.sk/d/3bGlX2LZrqmeH 1
