zl2bmh Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 Hello All. Is there a sim/game called IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Britain II ? If there is what name is it under as I cannot find it on the net but all the IL-2 games refer to it. Regards, zl2bmh.
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 Look for Il-2 Cliffs of Dover, released in 2011. If it catches your interest, don't forget to download the Team Fusion patches.
6./ZG26_Emil Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 I think he is talking about the A2A Simulation game? http://www.a2asimulations.com/bob/
KoN_ Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 I agree with Emil on this . That sim has a great campaign and very good Ai . 1
Trident_109 Posted May 14, 2016 Posted May 14, 2016 (edited) Battle of Britain: Wings of Victory. Yes a very good campaign and for it's day I thought the officially modded flight model was a decent representation. No relation to 1c/Maddox's IL2 Cliffs of Dover or 777/1C's IL2 Battle of Stalingrad. Edited May 14, 2016 by Trident_109

zl2bmh Posted May 14, 2016 Author Posted May 14, 2016 Thank you gentlemen for your input. I have all the Sturmovik sim/games as you know they really are the best and was hoping I had not missed this one. I believe you are right Emil, that must have been the one these particular guys were talking about. I looked it up after you mentioned it and it does look like another quality product. Thank you all again. zl2bmh.
seafireliv Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 I agree with Emil on this . That sim has a great campaign and very good Ai . Great campaign and good AI? Looks like I`m buying it.
6./ZG26_Emil Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 Great campaign and good AI? For it's time...I'm not sure how it will stack up against BOS/BOM probably not too well unless you don't care about graphics etc. I would also be very surprised if it has as good a FM or DM as BOS. The first one was out and active when IL-2 was around and I don't remember hordes of offliners leaving IL-2 for it. But it has a huge reputation for it's campaign and massive air-battles.
unlikely_spider Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 If you do pick it up, and care about scrupted single-player, take a look at the Desastersoft campaigns. Also don't play it without the Team Fusion mods.

YoYo Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 (edited) I still have it (the old times!): Edited May 15, 2016 by YoYo 2
Trident_109 Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 For it's time...I'm not sure how it will stack up against BOS/BOM probably not too well unless you don't care about graphics etc. I would also be very surprised if it has as good a FM or DM as BOS. The first one was out and active when IL-2 was around and I don't remember hordes of offliners leaving IL-2 for it. But it has a huge reputation for it's campaign and massive air-battles. BoB:WoV's graphics were the reason I stayed with IL2. I also thought ground handling was beyond frustrating and unrealistic which further decreased my interest in the game. All other aspects made the game fantastic IMO but those two were immersion killers for me. If I could get past the ground handling I probably would have stayed with it considering the FM, AI and campaign were so good.
buster_dee Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 A small aside: The resurrection of Rowan's BoB started as a project by Wolram Kuss, who later helped A2A take the project further. Wolfram got me started in 3D modeling--which I continue to blunder through. Anyway, I just wanted to mention what some individuals can accomplish by the sheer force of loving the subject matter. I haven't played it in years and don't know how much further it was developed. Good luck.
[CPT]Pike*HarryM Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 I was going to reinstall it (BoBII WOV) last night but missing my CD, must be buried in a drawer some where. I still have my BoB1 one also. Absolutely a great campaign, right up there with F4s. The only thing I miss in it is some sort of ground war going on. One of the reasons I liked MiG Alley's campaign better.
