Everything is quiet about this sim right now. General discussion is quiet. FM discussions are quiet. Online is lightly attended. Skins are at a trickle. This genre is kept floating by a hardcore cadre of people and many of them have been banned or run off. Cut off your nose to spite your face. This niche can't afford it.

That is stupid on so many levels. No one, including the Devs have even tangentially stated everything is awesome or even finished. Nor has anyone been banned for being a critic. People get banned for @$$hat behavior. I'm a huge critic of several aspects of this game and also of a couple of dedicated trolls. I've never even gotten a warning because I can argue with passion while still being respectful. This whole thread is essentially trolling and probably should be locked.

Nope, not a chance. I paid full price for both installments on the first day I was able. Then I gifted multiple licenses to others because I like the game, where it's headed thus far, and wanted to support pilots and devs alike. I will likely gift out of my own pocket during the first BOM sale as well.

Don't you ever find it intriguing that despite shovelling millions into the big hole in the ground that was CLoD,  1C went out and commissioned BoS?  The owner of 1C is a very wealthy man.  Read much foreign news Luke?  To be a very wealthy man in todays Russia means making friends with Vladimir.  Those who fail to make friends increasingly seem to wind up in court poor and shortly thereafter in prison.

 

We now know that some twenty per cent of the player base is in north america and around the same proportion are in russia.  The rest spread around the globe but mostly in europe I would imagine.  Whilst you and I really are paying top dollar for this game, I wonder what proportion of the russian guys bought the cheapo twelve bucks version?

 

From what Jason has said recently it would seem as though we'll be staying on the eastern front for theatre three, no?

 

 As sanctions against russia bite, their economy is tanking, the value of the ruble is going through the floor and Loft is spurning the opportunity to make decent sales for hard currency by making a western expansion.

 

So we can stay on the eastern front for another history lesson?  Seems a little strange to me

The russian government does fund certain software development in order to promote "patriotic" hstory.

By suggesting that Dev's are somehow hiding things and that there is no transparency is certainly giving the impression of a conspiracy you cannot really have it any other way....

It is true. No one has been banned for simply stating something is wrong or suggesting improvements. Even vociferously so. It is when people let their emotions get in the way of objectivity or respect that the ban hammer comes out. It is usually associated with a conspiracy or bias tangent. As stated earlier, you can argue passionately without being disrespectful. And it should be made clear that ARGUMENT does not equate to MOUTH FIGHT.

 

I think the Fw is somewhat broken and can say that all day and/or provide documentation as long as it's in the FM or other appropriate section depending on what I think is broken. (Yes, I see the irony here but it's an example).

 

When I start ranting in the General section about FM's, belittling Devs or forum members, or go off on one of the above mentioned tangents that's when I start treading upon thin Moderated ice. We are playing hockey on their pond and it has rules. Frankly, I'm glad it's not a pickup game with a bunch of anarchists like the old unmentionable forum.

That its because of spring and people have better things to do is simply a cover-up to hide the fact that all righteous FM critics have been silenced by the infamous FMDO (Flight Model Defense Organisation) offshoot of the Специальные Методы Разоблaчения Шпионов aka SMERSH.
