For anyone who had to sit through 'Pearl Harbour'...

Don't get me started...especially on 'Red Tails' (the second one). Me-262 with Yellow nose, KG54 and a JG3 emblem on it. Oh and the pilot of the P-51D can magically not explode form being hit with 30mm high explosive rounds on a head on duel with an Me-262.

Red Tails isn't too bad if you switch off the sound completely. I was able to get through the second half of the film that way.

Redtails was horrible. One of my biggest disappointments in movies.. It could have been and should have been so much better. Thye CGI scenes were the least of what was wrong with Redtails. Thes cript was terrible.. for the most part the acting was stiff. The direction was hokey.. and the whole thing so fill of cliches it was almost a joke. I expected "Prettyboy" to pull out a monacle on that scene when he crash landed at his and they were at6tacking it..  either that or a cigarette in a holder..  Hell I thought Flyboys was better than both PH and RT.

But the original Tuskegee airmen film was very good.

I managed to watch a bit of Red Tails. I think around the moment when one of the sides was attacking the enemies airfield (not even sure anymore who attacked) and they did those weird handbrake turns. Then I just had to turn it off.

The attack on Pearl Harbor in Pearl Harbor was Ok I think. I wish I could've muted the actors though. As long as you skip the "story scenes", it's watchable IMHO. At least compared to Red Tails.

LMAO, I thought it was so bad I could not watch the whole thing.  I even felt guilty about it.  But it was Baaad.

There's another one? Cool! I'll have to keep a look out for that.

Bit OT... there's an Airfix P-51D kit with the markings of the Red Tails squadron (a real plane, not the movie). If I ever get that, and I paint the pilot white, I'll feel so bad...

Not if you recognise the cold war era warships masquerading as WWII era ships :/. They really stick out with the 60's era "USN boxy superstructure" design lines and a single 5in gun....

It's a mid 90s HBO release with Cuba Gooding Jr., John Lithgow and I think Andre Brouher.

Here's am IMDB link: The box says PBS but I remember it being HBO.

It was HBO.. That was one of the things that made me start looking at WWII sims.. It was largely a matter of timing I guess because we got our first PC in 1990

He's one of the most popular and beloved figures on the Internet :)

And he's not a smart @ss hipster, he's playing a smart @ss hipster. Saying that he's a smart @ss hipster is like saying Bruno Ganz killed 7,000,000 people.

Personally, I like him. But if you don't, that's fine. I'm not going to turn this into a 20 page flame war over it

Well, any movie about the aircaft I see, I see for the aircraft. CGI is a standard now, unforunately. And majority of the budget goes for CGI. The story aside, I liked battle sequences in Pearl Harbor ( correct English spelling of the word is Harbour actually, but American English differs from British English in some cases ). Back to subject though.

Flyboys ( lol ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ejaNRXaQzg

not mentioning all the obvious films, like Top Gun, BoB or Tora Tora Tora.

My favorite so far, Dark Blue World ( trailer is just horrid so I chose this clip ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3GkOljwa1j0

Pilots used to say " if it has wings, I can fly it". I like to say "if it has aircaft in it, I will watch it"

As for the review guy in OP's video.... I can't stand him. He may appeal to younger audience though, why - I have no clue.

@9./JG54_Stray:

Not mentioning Tora Tora Tora?! ;)

When I think about WWII movies with lots of planes in it one of the first movies that crosses my mind is the attack scene with the crashing P-40.

I always wondered how did they arrange and calculate such a dangerous stunt? :o:

But it was a stunt indeed but one that went wrong. But luckily it made it to the movie.

Dark Blue World is a good movie. I prefer to watch DBW than Battle of Britain.

One WW2 air combat movie and still the best to date IMO is '12 'O' Clock High'. #1 They use real wartime footage! (scenes depicting Adolf Galland's JV44), #2 The acting is superb!, # The have real B-25's and the sound is just amazing! And 'Battle of Britain' on Bluray (1969's) is just superb! Susanna York was a complete MILF too.

Well I had to shut it down but did he mention the way they mash the sticks from side to side or how quiet the P-40 gets when he takes the chick for a ride in it. They can actually talk with soft wisper like voices..OH JESUS!!! :( When I payed 8 or or 9 bucks to see this back when it opened I almost pewked. I wish that 109 would have stuffed a 20mm up his ass and out his head.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Director Michael Bayes too.

Soory for the late reply. To answer your question, nope, but he criticises the way the military personnel behave ("We love these guys who put priceless military hardware in danger") and all the other stuff.

I had to walk out of the theater. I don't know how those guys can sit through the press after the movie is made and say "Oh what an honour it was to make this great movie for those men"..It should be "We're terribly sorry but we have to push this piece of garbage or we'll be in court for years with 20th Century Fox"

This is why A Higher Call can't be made in the States...The public cares deeply but the movie producers just don't give a shit. Not these days anyway.
