Stukas From Mars

Unscripted Ju-87 Stuka attack on Soviet ships in Wings of Liberty last weekend. This is my first crack at a cinematic video, so thanks for watching! I highly recommend watching in full screen 1080p with a good pair of headphones or speakers. Stick around after the credits for a bonus scene from later that night!

In Part 1, I'm happy to feature one of my favorite pieces of music, Gustav Holst's "Mars, The Bringer of War" from his Planets suite. The video sort of accidentally became a David Bowie tribute somewhere along the line, with "Ziggy Stardust" in Part 2.

Starring me, 71st_AH_p3zman and 71st_AH_Ares.

Co-starring 6./ZG1=SPEKTRE76, 6./ZG1=HarryM, BSS_Sniper and BSS_Princess_Sparkle.

I hope nobody minds being included.

Thanks for watching!

Nicely executed! Really looks great at 1080p.

Well done: the choreography in part one works nicely.

Much as I like Bowie I found the shift from one music genre to another a bit jarring, but overall +1.

I just think there would have been a more suitable piece of music out there for the 2nd part ^^

Thanks for the feedback guys! I'm glad you like it.

The second part's music isn't ideal, sorry some of you aren't a fan, but came about organically so I just rolled with it. Good feedback for next time tho.

I came up with the title "Stukas From Mars" based on the Holst piece's title alone. I was going to end it on the Stuka crashing, but I also wanted to include the formation landing so it had to go on after the the first piece ended. No music seemed odd, and "Stukas From Mars" reminded me of "Spiders From Mars" and since Bowie just died, I figured it was as good as anything. I can see how the lack of coherence could be jarring, but to some degree I also liked how the total change in mood represented the relief one feels when they turn for home after attacking through a flak filled sky. Those 1000kg bombs were heavy

Well I liked hearing Bowie and since we just lost such a great musician it felt strangely appropriate

In a funny way our cinematics are a bit like art so it's down to the eye of the beholder...although personally I don't like any of mine

Nice video again :)

Hahaha! I loved it! Just wish the view I had from the cockpit was in the video. I looked over my shoulder to check formation and all I saw was our three-ship, in great formation, with those 2x 110's in perfect formation on our higher 7 o'clock, and 2x 109 zig-zagging over us... Brought a tear to my eyes since it was all organic. Every last formation in that flight joined of their own accord; great teamwork.

You absolutely have to go with what feels right when you make the movie. Listening to critics is good, but only change things if you decide that you agree with what they say. Otherwise you run the risk of making your product bland and "corporate" by trying to please everyone, like so much mainstream entertainment, when the most important thing is pleasing yourself!

Anyway, I shall look out for future releases.  :salute:
