Ok, guys I have been testing this all week, and found that don't know why but: if some of us run in native resolution we cant see target past 5.5km, but if we turn on NVIDIA DSR 1.25 smoothing 30% I can see target out to 9.5km.

here is my settings: if I run my game at my native resolution which is 2560x1440 2k: I can not see the LOD's past 5.5 km, if I run in pseudo 4k 3135x1764; DSP at 30% Smooth: I can see the LOD targets up to 9.5km, nothing past that they disappear; also this seems to greatly increase load on the gpu and lower FPS but on my machine 35 to 50 is fine for me.

some of you guys my not like it. just play around in the SP quick missions and see what you can get.

jjust trying to help.

Are you serious or just doing psychological placebo effect survey?

I myself many times was flying in vacuum then suddenly 4 or more planes showed a front of me. I was asking how blind i must be or.... this is this 10k event horizon which is to small btw.

Great investigation Mastiff, thanks a lot.

By target, do you mean planes contacts, grounds contacts or both ?

I can't see past 5.5 kms but that is because of my old age and the difficulty

seeing the planes on my screen.

Dust spec or an enemy plane? How often does that happen to me?

Too often!

Ha! And to think we complain about how dirty the canopy glass is in game yet we don't even take the time to clean our monitors. I got one spec on mine that I always fall for too, I need to wipe it off sometime.

I can see air contacts up to 9,5 but it's still not enough considering the close distance of two plane crossing at 450km/h each. Dev stated that increasing the bubble distance would be ressources killer but Mastiff report seems to demonstrate that DSP usage is not so ressource consuming ... good point

I have not really noticed a difference in spotting whether using 1080P or UHD 4K, maybe I need to do a more 'scientific' test

I felt I could spot distant targets in 1080p as well as UHD. The difference is that in UHD identifying them is much easier.

The cost of running a 4K monitor just dropped considerably with the new GTX 10-series. I think I saw that the 1070 has the same power as a Titan X

So forget DSR. Get the real thing :-D

These maps look absolutely stunning in 2160x3840.

Air targets is what I mention. No I was only seeing this planes at 5.5km and tried the higher DSR and it was much sharper and I could see those for out further, but I do own a 32" Ben q'

ok more testing done with the DSR,

I found that if I set all the box's enabled and smoothing at 25% and 35%; I get launchers,

so I set the DSR to native resolution with the x4.0 box only checked, and Smoothing is at 30%

I do not get no more launchers.
