HagarTheHorrible Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 I've just been trying out my brand new Rift CV1 in DCS and all I can say is WOW. 3D pit's are wasted unless you have one, they're just awesome. Resolution still sucks and I can clearly see screen door, but never the less the sense of being there is just incredible. While I wouldn't pretend the Rift CV1 is ideal at the moment, or even essential, in a couple of years time with the CV2, if Il2 isn't ready, then it may as well pack it's bags and go home. Once the resolution of VR devices improves then it'll be the only game in town. The experience is that good.
coconut Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 How do you manage nausea? That something that worries me a bit for simulations.
TheBlackPenguin Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 Yeah, and also be ready for Vive. Both should drop in price, if trends with new hardware continues.
Gump Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 tell ya whut, ive been feeling the need to have more of a "3d" 'open space' experience. kinda getting tired of playing for that very reason...may put more time into outdoor activities soon because of it...was wondering if the VR stuff would make me feel different.
Toxin1 Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 Just tried the new War Thunder patch that enables the 1.3 Oculus CV1 runtime on my DK2. I flew the P-40 around Hawaii and the BF109 E7 in France. With ASYNC-Timewarp and the newer graphics engine, it looked and performed much better than the earlier implementation. It's not BOS/BOM level fidelity, but the atmosphere and presence is way up there similar to DCS. It's so immersive that it fooled my brain into feeling the inertia as I rocked forward in my seat when I landed and came to a stop..... On a side note: I am pretty sensitive to motion sickness and when I first tried War Thunder on my DK2 over a year ago, I felt a little nausea with clammy and sweaty hands after about 30 mins. This time around no motion sickness at all. In fact, come to think of it I have not experienced any sickness in VR after those first couple of days of use early on. 1
