FuriousMeow Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 (edited) I know, we can install TS or Dolby Axon, but that requires a) knowing the proper server many are on and b) everyone actually being on the same VOIP software/server/channel. One of the greatest things another, much older, massively multiplayer title did was incorporate a targeted 6 call. This was back in the day of most people being on 56k modems. A button could be pressed and it would cycle through the visible friendlies until you arrived at the one you wanted to alert and it would send the 6 call to them to let them know they were under attack. It improved team cooperation and coordination, and made the entire experience several fold better - especially for newer players. Eventually local VOIP was incorporated. It is also incorporated into titles such as ArmA II and III, and makes team cooperation/coordination much, much better. That is in addition to TS/Axon/Roger Wilco (anyone remember that?) I guarantee it would work well for MP. It could be set so that it could only work with individuals within x range of the person talking, and it would only be to their own side. There are many players that don't join TS or don't even use it. Having something like this would make it much better for all involved from first timers to the most experienced. The range at which it works should be server controlled, in addition to whether or not it is enabled for all. The client/FrontEnd/end user would be able to mute the local VOIP of course. There have been many times I've wanted to call out to a team mate but have to end up opening up chat windows and typing in as fast as possible to let someone know there is something on them and by the time I hit enter it has already closed the distance to within firing range - not to mention the typos. I know, it isn't historical... well sort of could be in some situations. However, being server enabled/disabled that stops that argument. It does, however, increase team cooperation and will absolutely help newbies out which will help keep new players because they will be assisted more easily. Edited May 1, 2016 by FuriousMeow 3
