Hello All.

I have already asked this question but received no reply.

I am not an experienced flyer so need your help pse.

I have the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro stick as  owners know there's only 12 buttons and I only want to map the most useful one's which experienced fliers are well aware of.

Can someone please help.

Regards,

Hi,

This is a tricky question because each simmer has different needs, but usually focus on main systems like weapons, flaps, gear, brakes, radiators, trim etc. The main stuff that keeps you in the air and shooting.

so, trigger is your fire button, you have trak ir, or 6DOF head-movement?

its hard to see your stick in the photo provided from on line, so anything on the head of your stick, I would put weapons and trim, the rest would be toggle airbreaks and siren for the JU87,

leave the gear on the G key keyboard, engine controls you have a throttle on the stick?

oil coolant or cowling open close , radiator coolant or cowling open close.

mixture, pro-pitch, any thing you can put on the stick to reduce your movement from your stick and taking your eyes off the target.

Thank you gentlemen, that's what I wanted to know as the wants and needs of older aircraft do differ in the extremities from the latest jets.

I enjoy the 1st and 2nd WW planes a lot (probably my age. ) However thanks again, gives me something to go on.

Regards.

Hi Zl2bmh ! Chuck may be able to help :http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/10268-chucks-aircraft-guide/

Also zl2bmh,BOS has an amazing Controls/key input menu (as soon as you understand its basics).IMHO, it is THE best "Input" Menus of Any Other Sim that we fly today..

My Advice, Pick your favorite Plane. Check all sections of your Key Settings for Conflicts (highlighted in red)...Clear all the conflicts.(one of the common  Problems for New pilots to BOS is "they have Multiple Bindings in the settings Menu that they are unaware of "....So they get Weird Behavior from their Joystick/Input....and don't know why.

BTW, I presume you have Tr Ir . (1) Guns 1+2. (2) Nose TRIM .  (Nose/Up down/Elevator Trim/ Stabiliser can be mapped to the same buttons on your joystick for different Bos Aircraft.

If you cant Trim the Aircraft after Takeoff ,you wont be able  to Fight in it.

(3) ZOOM to Gunsight... Set that up and SAVE, F10.....Each and Every Cockpit !...

Now you Have some Buttons to Spare to use as you see fit.

Hope this helps ! ~S~

Use Joy2Key to map base buttons as modifiers (Lshift, Rshift etc)

Then you can do LShift + Joybutton/Hat to increase number of commands

e.g. my setup (slightly different nowadays, but mostly the same (with T.16000M)

Well, there is no "fire cannon" (or "fire machine gun," for that matter) command, per se. It's Fire Weapon Group 1 and Fire Weapon Group 2, so what button(s) the cannons are assigned to will depend on the plane's configuration.

I don't use that control set anymore, there have been changes based experience.

But the basic idea is the same.

Get Joy2Key

and map those buttons (+ rudder trim which I forgot to add when I made this)

Almost an impossible question to answer. Everyone has their favourite combination of buttons that suits them best.

I`d say make a selection then test in a Singleplayer Quick Mission until you have what works for you. Obviously you want certain buttons like your gun Trigger buttons close, but not every weapon. For instance, I have my Bomb button on the keyboard (spacebar) to guarantee I won`t  drop it at the wrong time- It happens.

If you have TrackIr then you can free up even more buttons, if not, you`ll likely need to make your hat you views, unless you use the Mouse, like I used to.

I find it useful to have my wheel brake button on the joystick like in the real aircraft, much easier for taxiing.

But like I said, your preferences will vary.

Well that really is a fantastic reply everyone, I can truly say I'm extremely grateful to each of you.  I'll pick the bones out of it and have a good setup in the end.  I must say ROFISEAL thank you for going to so much time and effort.

I don't have trackIR unfortunately, as I did own one sometime ago now and it was excellent but being confined to a bed for a large part of the day and being a pensioner to boot I don't think the other arf' will take to kindly if I pleaded my case for anther one.

Thank you all again, it's people like you that make the forums so good and the game/sim a joy to learn about.

regards, all.
