LLv34_Temuri Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 Is it recommended to generally use multiple waypoints with ground vehicles, or is it enough just so tell a truck to stick to roads and give it just the destination waypoint?
coconut Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 Destination only seems to work, provided the vehicles received an onroad formation command
LLv34_Temuri Posted April 27, 2016 Author Posted April 27, 2016 Do they drive to the destination via the shortest route, or do they do some "trial and error" on the way?
JimTM Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 (edited) Destination only seems to work, provided the vehicles received an onroad formation command I've created test missions where a vehicle near a T junction on a road does one of two things: - Proceeds to the junction, turns, and proceeds to the destination waypoint along the road (mission 9 in the attachment). - Proceeds directly, across a field, to the destination waypoint, skipping the T junction (mission 8 in the attachment). JimTM - Test T Junction.zip I'm at a loss to explain why the vehicle behaves unreliably in this case. I've tried, moving the vehicle and setting it to ground level, setting the waypoint to ground level, above ground level and below ground level, reapplying the terrain, etc. There seems to be some exquisitely fine detail that determines whether the vehicle will keep to the road in this case or not. Perhaps an AI bug. Vehicles seem to keep to the road reliably if there are no decision points, such as a T junction. Maybe waypoints are required at those points. Edited April 27, 2016 by JimTM
