JtD Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 https://www.google.com/patents/US1864052 While labelled regulator it's also known as cooler. A thing looking like that was installed on the P-40 and also on some P-38.
SCG_Tzigy Posted April 26, 2016 Author Posted April 26, 2016 thx, i did find that patent as well my friend in Prague thought P-40 probably not many p-40s in the Euro TO, though..
JtD Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Not with the 8th AF operating from England, but there were plenty operating from the Mediterranean. I'd agree with you friend, but maybe someone can track down one of the numbers to the ac type.
horseback Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 P-40s lacked the range to get to Czech Republic from Allied held territory in Italy; if that is a part used to cool or lubricate an Allison engine, it came out of an American P-38 or (possibly) a Soviet operated P-39. cheers horseback
Venturi Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 P-40s had a good range, over 1000km on lean economy settings. This was a pre-war requisite. Most American fighter aircraft had good ferry ranges. This does not mean they could fly and fight at these ranges.
