Formation Command - Vehicle: Forward, Vehicle:Backward

Does anyone have an example of using the Vehicle: Forward and Vehicle:Backward types of the formation command? I played around with them, but no luck.

I'm using then in Kalach Night Attack, the German tanks drive a rectangular circuit. On the home leg, they drive backwards. The thing to understand is that the direction of travel is still decided by the waypoints. Forward and backward formation orders decide if the nose or the trunk arrives first.
