zl2bmh Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Hello everyone. I have, through Steam, most of the Il-2 Surmovik battles (except Moscow). Why, I have no idea, as I cannot get any of the planes to fly with my Logitech extreme 3d pro joystick. I have the same problem with RoF. Both these games are about my vintage, that's why I bought them. The plane wobbles all over the place and doesn't seem to read the joystick and eventually goes down. My movements with the stick has very little effect. I went into controls and made sure joystick was activated, the power does work. I have used the Logitech Profiler to calibrate the stick. Can someone help me please. Kind Regards, Jim zl2bmh. Computer: W10, 12GB RAM, Mid Range Card, 23" screen 1920 x 1080.
=EXPEND=Dendro Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 (edited) I have read about issues with W10 and IL2 where the USB keeps on getting reassigned if you remove the joystick? Try getting it set up and recognised on W10 then make sure you don't unplug it. More experienced members might be able to explain better or correct me?? Are you saying you are getting some kind of small response from the joystick? Edited April 22, 2016 by JG19_DendroAspis
No601_Swallow Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 In case it helps: When I upgraded to Windows 10, everything worked well except my controllers. After trying to adjust powersaving settings, etc, in Windows 10 - which made no difference - I read some advice somewhere that said to completely uninstall my Saitek drivers and management software. I did - and they now work perfectly. Maybe there's a similar problem with your logitek drivers?
zl2bmh Posted April 22, 2016 Author Posted April 22, 2016 Sir, Thank you very much for your advice. I'm obviously doing something stupid (which is typical of me). I will try your advice with fingers crossed. Regards and thanks again. Jim zl2bmh. 2
zl2bmh Posted April 23, 2016 Author Posted April 23, 2016 Hello and thank you. I would like to thank those who suggested certain fixes. The problem has now been found. Faulty stick. The rudder with my Logitech was swinging out of control. When I changed to my Microsoft Side-Winder, the rudder sat still as. Not a bit of movement until I twisted the stick. Unless there's a fix, it looks like I'm in the market for a new stick. Thank you all for your help, I appreciate it so very much. Regards, Jim zl2bmh.
216th_Jordan Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 before you go for a new stick: consider getting yourself rudder pedals! If you like the stick you have and it is still working fine on x- and y-axis, then you can even continue using it.
zl2bmh Posted April 23, 2016 Author Posted April 23, 2016 Hello Jordan. Very good food for thought, I will certainly give this some serious thought. Thank you again Jordan. Jim zl2bmh.
=EXPEND=Dendro Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Good to hear you fixed it Jim. Happy flying.

That's one reason I gave up on the Logitec sticks. My friend and I both had one and experienced the same problem you describe. Bummer about needing to buy a new joystick.
