Suggestion: Map of immediate local airfield before takeoff?

On full real maps it can be very hard to know where to taxi to get to the runway, even with Track Ir and poking your head out of the aircraft. In real life, a pilot would`ve had a chance in the quiet moments to have a walk about the airfield to familiarise himself before any take offs and even a crew member to direct him while taxiing..

 

Since we can`t do that in the sim, I would request allowing the pilot a small mini map of the airfield layout before takeoff, something like the main map when you press `O`, but it only shows the detail of the airfield and your position start on it. Once you`ve made it to the taxi way, that airfield map is disabled.

 

 

 

p.s. Personally, I`d love if we could have a ground crew member physically show the pilot the way to go, but that`s no doubt asking too much.

Have you seen the various airfield layout documents produced by the community

Here is a forum link for a printable airfield reference. You can get Stalingrad and Velikie Luki. They are PDF files and I print them 4 to a page, both sides. Stalingrad took around 20 pages. They are a perfect ref.

The Moscow map actually these mini maps, if you zoom in closely in the "O" map

I believe they plan to do this to Stalingrad as well.

Yes that is a nice touch for the BoM map would be good to see it across all maps

As a total noob joining up on multiplayer servers being able to look at the map and find out which way to taxi has been something I've wished existed.  I need to buy a printer.
