Yeh it's a big shame that people behave like that especially after all the work those guys must have put in to it.

 

I think the P-40 will do ok with the BOM plane set especially when you have Migs roaming around up high, we've flown it a bit and I think that in the right situation it's pretty good.....get  high, go looking for people to bounce watch them die on your first pass and run like mad before they know what's happened  :D Those 50 cals are awesome as well....I've only shot down a few fighters in it so far but the last two 109s were both PKs and it only took a few rounds.

P-40 could be even better if WoL limited the amount of F-4s, get rid of G-2s, and force Germans to fly E-7 and F-2s.

Kmac is getting really good with the P-40.

I don't think he is accusing him of cheating, but yes it is in fact possible to cheat in IL2.  There is a way to make an expert server like WoL or DED look like a QMB mission with icons, aim assists, and lead indicators.  The dev's have responded to it saying that it is a "driver level hack, possible in any game, and nearly impossible to detect and prevent" or something to that effect. 

 

Point is there are people out there who will always find a way to cheat and there is nothing the dev's or the community can do about it.  It's not a fault with the game or the dev's, it's just the nature of the beast.  No point in getting bent out of shape.

Yesterday took the WoL [Edited] to new heights. I could not get off the ground without getting rammed or vulched, and then the server was having errors. Spent most of the night getting shot down by Tomio in Berloga dogfight server :D

No offence, but I like WoL for it's 'sillyness' and gamey atmosphere. Sometimes I like to have GPS and a big furball with silly accidents and rams. The good thing is you can choose: DED server is awesome for hardcore fans who are looking for almost as many players as there are in WoL and there are opther nice servers with a little less players online too.

I have to say that if there is just one or two of you, Coconuts missions are amazing. I've not been on for a while but Custard and myself flew on the earlier missions when the P-40 came out and we had a blast.....you only need a handful of people to have fun

I'm not too much of a fan of the WoL server not only because of the GPS, but the ground objectives literally span the entire map causing people to fly around for 20 minutes to find anyone, even when it has 60+ people in it.

We really do need to put our butts where our mouths are (not literally of course ) and support servers like DED Random Expert and ZG26 which don't give in to the stat-whores just to buy numbers. When you join of an evening please think before jumping on WoL which has more players largely because it falls under the sun first each day. It only takes about 5 per side for a server to reach critical mass and by the amount who grieve over WoL on the forums I'm generally surprised by the poor showing on the really great teamwork oriented alternatives.

This request goes especially to the clan flyers who can really help fill a server quickly.

I will be flying on ZG26 until further notice so I can see where Emil and Co. take this. The commitment to non-anachronistic inventory and lack of lazy-assists deserves patronage.

BTW - dear map makers. Please consider more soft targets for strafing and flight-sized P40 objectives. This was where the Kitty really excelled and I am generally frustrated by the lack of objectives for the P40 on WoL which forces me to fly it as an air superiority fighter against a horde of 109F4s and 190s.

 

It is also more realistic that the VVS' targets are mobile units rather than infrastructure. Perhaps fuel and ammunition resupply columns and APCs.

They are great folks,all of them and I really don't miss overwhelming numbers of free hunters from that other server where all cool kids play. Even with few people on server it's perfectly playable as we are not after some fancy statistics. We all enjoy flying and having fun shooting at each other. No name calling,childish chatline disputes,butt hurts, forum dogfight challenges ( I find them hilarious,like penis lenght contests ) and such. Leaving ones ego offline is prerequisite to have enjoyable online experience.

Big thanks to those guys who run/manage such servers in their free time for mature,more relaxed virtual pilots

That's exactly the inspiration behind why we did it Personally I can fly round that map on my own and enjoy the game but I tried to make the targets believable so the bomber guys would feel more satisfaction. It's probably hard work for fighter pilots to get 'action' right now so it wont appeal to the fast food mentality.....last night we had two long range fighters (bf-110) as escort, the flight took around one and a half hours (bring a chemical toilet!) and it was very satisfying to get home. Eventually I hope we'll move towards running co-ops once or twice a week (or more?) and the DF server on the other nights for training and fun.

 

Coconut's server is probably much better for single players or smaller numbers of people though he has used some ungodly form of dark magic to bring his missions alive. The older ones we flew on were very very cool.

DED are very well made missions and very fun to fly on we used to fly on there a lot. I actually think the WOL missions are good although I'm not a fan of icons etc....unfortunately the worst online behaviour is  found on there sadly, that is a big shame because I know all the mission makers put many hours in to doing this but then I guess it's possible to be a victim of your own success.

You referring to Ded Expert or Coconut?

 

I like DED Expert even though the supply runs are a bit of a pain in the ass but it sure beats having teenagers smashing into your base every 2 minutes typing "LOLOLOLOL "on the chat because they think its real funny. Farkit, I really don't  believe I was a douchebag like that when I was 14.

 

WoL should have an autokill for anyone that tries to ram a base more than once if they approach a 2 km radius of the strip.

On ther western froint the P40 was largerly outclassed by the German figthers in use only in secondery fronts and was not in use on the front line duty after 1943.

Otherwisse it was a solid and reliable plane in expert hands that could do a lot of damages to equal or inferior airplanes like the one time they encouter some Me323.

I recall a very specific instance of you, Istruba, behaving in this exact manner and then gleefully proclaiming how "It was worth it" when you got called out.  I think you ruined two peoples very good sorties by targeting players on the ramp in a suicide attack.
