Lusekofte Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 (edited) Did the Klimov engine really kope with this kind of rpm over so long time? I always reduce it to 2300 rpm on level flight. I also question its engine performance and mixture management at high altitude. The engine tolerate 100% mixture at 5 K altitude , I know the ending suffocate at high altitude but the prop pitch should be able to take more air the higher you fly. I am no expert, but I do not think this is modeled quite right, if it is then I am sorry to bring it up. I like to level bomb targets noticeable from high altitude, but you made me want to take it down low, entertaining video, thx for sharing Edited April 18, 2016 by 216th_LuseKofte
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 (edited) Nice video Mastiff! Luse, the Klimov was design to only allow the pilot to run it within nominal limits. In other words, 2750 RPM and full throttle can be ran ad-eternum so long as you keep the engine from overheating. Not sure about the mixture though. Edited April 18, 2016 by 55IAP_Lucas_From_Hell
