Joysticks number limit

Is the game limited to eight controllers? I can't seem to be able to map any controller that has number higher than 7. If I disconnect some devices, then those controllers that used to have ID's above 7 work just fine, so it's not a hardware issue.

There is a limit. Not sure if it's 6 or 8 devices.
