Irgendjemand Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 Imagine a full 109 cockpit attached to this combine that with an oculus rift and youre TOTALLY there.
Lusekofte Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 why have a complete 109 pit if you gonna have a virtual one in your Rift? Another thing how hard do you think it is hanging in that thing without G forces holding you in place? I think it is fun for 5 minutes and then you need a rest
BlitzPig_EL Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 I have used a full motion sim chair thing set up for auto racing. I was asked to try it as I have real world on track experience and take care of vintage race cars for a living. I found it a gimmicky arcade toy at best, much like those old mechanical horses you would "ride" for a dime when you were a child. It added nothing to immersion as all the motions just felt fake, because they are, and there is no g loading of consequence. I'd take the money one of those costs, put it into a top end 3 monitor set up, and buy a new real car and be far better off.

Never liked the 3 monitor setup, why have a complete 109 pit if you gonna have a virtual one in your Rift? I think it is fun for 5 minutes and then you need a rest I would just strap into a 5 point harness.
seafireliv Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 Oh it DOES go inverted! Ok, I`d buy that. If I could.
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 This looks more promising, and less clumsy as well: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-3494981/Samsung-developing-headphones-make-feel-like-moving-Entrim-4D-stimulates-ear-nerves-make-VR-real.html
=CFC=Conky Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 (edited) Hello all, Modeled as it is it's a barf machine. You need proper g emulation if you're going to do steep turns or fly inverted. The only way for it to really work is to have the thing fully enclosed, with acceleration simulated by moving the sim around on hydraulic legs. Like this. Good hunting, =CFC=Conky Edited April 17, 2016 by CFC_Conky
352nd_Wheels Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 combine that with an oculus rift and youre TOTALLY there. Watch the joystick movements and you can see there is a fairly substantial delay in the reaction to it by the simulator motors. Wheels
seafireliv Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 Something like that must cost a fair bit just in maintenance, though.

I ran Mid-Ohio for decades... you anywhere near there?
