AI Ju-88 crashing on take off?

Is anyone else seeing this in BoM campaign missions?

Everytime I run a Ju-88 mission from take of at least half of my AI flight crash almost immediately after take off. Not sure if it's a bug or something I'm doing wrong so thought I'd post it here rather than the bugs forum.

It's because many airfields are surrounded by forest. I can barely clear the forest myself. I crashed on take off the other night.

Ah thanks. Going to be a tricky one for the davs to rectify if that's the cause. Hope they can though.

Could reducing the fuel load whenever the mission allows help, perhaps?

One thing to do that may help is to fly out straight in a very shallow climb for a good ways, if turn too soon after takeoff the AI will stall out trying to match it.

That will help, as will reducing the bomb load.

Ah...... This might be my particular problem. I have a habbit of beginning my turn towards the first waypoint as soon as the successful take off message pops up. I'll definitely try this.

And thanks for the other suggestions guys. I'll certainly look at those. Weight could certainly be a major factor as I often change the default mission bomb load. It's very possible that I'm not paying enough attention to how much extra weight I'm adding.

I think the most important thing is what HarryM wrote. I had today a mission with two 1000kg bombs and AI 88s managed to get their bombers in the air after I was flying straight on for quite some time after takeoff. But when you make a turn after takeoff they will try to cut your turn as they always point their noses on you, to fly into your direction. And so their turn gets to close for the speed they have directly after takeoff.

If you get struck in a fuel tank, the fuel in the 88 leaks like a sunofabish. I usually fly with 80% no matter the distance.

No biggie, just make sure the radio operator always has a pack of these in flight. If anything happens, send him out onto the wing to patch up the hole using the chewed-up leftovers.

On a more serious note I can relate to that - 100% fuel on any mission, and every time I skimp on it something happens to prove me wrong.

Lol, exactly. I have, however been able to make it  home with a big leak and land safely by turning one of the engines off. I impressed myself that day, lol.
