352nd_Wheels Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 I knew of the war in the East as an abstract thing until I started playing IL-2. Only then did I start to understand the full scope of the battles that took part in Russia. Wheels 3
Finkeren Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 I've been very interested in the GPW for around 20 years, and it's still kinda abstract to me. The sheer scope and intensity of it just boggles the mind, and the often dry bordering on statistical litterature on the subject doesn't help in giving you a proper understanding.

As always I recommend Professor John Erickson’s ‘The Road to Stalingrad’ and the sequel ‘The Road To Berlin’. Dry and just facts but very illuminating https://www.amazon.co.uk/Road-Stalingrad-CASSELL-MILITARY-PAPERBACKS/dp/0304365416?ie=UTF8&*Version*=1&*entries*=0 Master
