StaB/Tomio_VR*** Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 (edited) Hi all there, I'm pretty sure Devs already choosed their next theatre however if not, i would like to remind them that the announced next add-on of CoD was the Korean theatre but it never happen as everyone knows despite they started to work on it (few pictures released) This theatre was also forgot in the few different polls made on this forums...It combines jet and conventionnal planes and was never made in Il-2 Series. Only with Mods but it was never played on a big scale for the same reason unfortunatelyHere is a suggested planeset for this eventual add-on to please everyone (jets and piston engined lovers + bombers) This add-on can also introduce carriers with F4U Corsair and F9F Panther on it and this is long awaiten in this simulation despite carriers will not be on both sides. ______________________________ - Il-2 MiG Alley :MiG-15 bisYak-9Tu-2Il-10Premium : La-9 or La-11-----------------------F-86 SabreA-26/B-26 if no B-29 F-51/P51 MustangF4U1C CorsairPremium : F9F Panther ______________________________ With this planeset, 2 scenarios are possible : - Early War : Yak-9, Il-10 +Tu-2 vs F-51, F4U... - Jet War with all the planes It has also the great advantage to add Yak-9 and Tu-2 to the game without making a 1943 add-on on the eastern front and this is priceless !!! 2 Beauties ! Area of fighting in North Korea : Note : I will enjoy for sure every add-on but of course, i got some preferences and i'd like to see forgotten planes & theater in Il-2 1946 Edited April 22, 2016 by 64sTomio
scotchegg Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 Given DCS's excellent coverage of the saber and mig, another theatre might make more sense. Burma seems like a good idea to me.
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 B-29 is not an option at the moment otherwise I will support this idea................at a later date. Keep bringing the prop-jobs for now TYVM.
StaB/Tomio_VR*** Posted April 15, 2016 Author Posted April 15, 2016 (edited) DCS has F-86 and MiG-15 true but without the dedicated map, it's not really a coverage... B-29 was never flyable modelled* in Il2 1946 just like Tu-2. It's time one day... * I don't speak about modded planes which doesnt have dedicated cockpit for most of them Edited April 15, 2016 by 64sTomio
Trooper117 Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 Just for something completely different, I'd go for a Korean war theatre next You have early jets yes, but you still have props as well... would be pretty good if the went down that route.
=362nd_FS=Hiromachi Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 Point is if it can attract a lot of attention ? And generate sufficient income to keep the business running? Korea always sounds like a good idea until someone takes an effort to bring it. For example take a look at MiG and F-86 released in DCS. I've bought MiG-15 couple of days after release and barely even flew it. Cant sport anyone else flying them any more than occasionally, I've seen maybe one server dedicated to Korean War. Else ? They are added once in a while to other jet servers and nobody picks them. Besides, Devs already said that no 4-engine bombers will be part of the game. Strategic bombers have limited use in scale and type of operations we have. 1
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 It's a cool idea, but Hiromachi's points raise some concern. Not sure how wise it is to go into the jet direction, also. The competition is obviously big and well-established, whereas the piston world is still vastly unexplored within modern simulations. If they run out of major World War II theatres there are still gems like Spain, China, the Soviet-Japanese border conflicts, 1948-49 Arab-Israeli wars with the Spitfire, P-51, Fury, S-199s and so on. Factually speaking the 'best sellers' within the piston world will always be major scenarios involving the Allies against Axis aircraft though.
zyss Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 I will happy to see La-9 & La-11 in game, and yes, I'm very expect to see La-9 & La-11 in game, but I don't know how developers think about this, the game has too less aircrafts now, I think the important thing is to add the most famous planes in 1943-1949, it is more useful to release a DLC which called Battle of XXX.
MasterBaiter Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 Oh please no! They are so many ww2 theaters to cover first!
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 I would find the F-86 v MiG 15 a lot of fun I suspect. Having lived there, the rural Korean terrain is quite varied, interesting and beautiful. Both of the main protagonists are quite beautiful and the history is exciting but like I said, later..............................much later. There are many just as interesting AC to explore over the next several years first. All in all, my $80 for BoK will be waiting just over there for it's time to get to work

It means no Battle over Germany and lot of other scenarios will be much less exciting Then B-29 can be replaced by F-84 Edited April 15, 2016 by 64sTomio

A map from Dover to Frankfurt am Oder ? Good luck with that.
Silverback Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 It would be fun but I think it would also be a conflict of interest with DCS. Just saying.
Trooper117 Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 If you wait for DCS we will all be old men or dead...

Actually, the add-on to CloD that was announced was the Battle of Moscow, which we have now. That said, a Korea map would be interesting. We can't really say that DCS covers the Korean War - three aircraft and nothing else at all hardly counts. Korea would be great, thanks to the mix of jet and prop aircraft - not to mention it would be the only flight sim since IL-2: 1946 to allow you to properly play as the RAAF We probably won't get it next, but down the line, I'd certainly like to see it. Well they started to work on a Korea add-on as well, i remember some pictures of MiG-15 in progress So if they follow the CoD team calendar, we should get the Korean add-on this time and this will please both americans (which gets their first planes in game) as well the russian devs
Felix58 Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 Would be nice to see il2 BOK. DCS will never have a complete Korean theatre a la BOS/BOM. An il2 Pacific with realistic carrier ops would be a more logical theatre for the series to go - maybe have subs in lieu of tanks! 1
